Overview

Alchemy Formula: Platinum is a consumable crafting recipe in Crimson Desert. It is a document detailing the method for creating Platinum, a rare silvery ore that is highly conductive to magical energy, used in crafting advanced alchemical catalysts and endurance enhancers. Learning this recipe is required before you can craft Platinum at a Witch NPC.

Where to Find

The formula is found inside the Scholastone Institute library, located in the mountains southwest of Hernand. You will visit this location relatively early through the Scholastone main quest chain (Chapter 4: The Price of Knowledge). The institute is accessible once you have progressed far enough in the story.

Step-by-Step Directions

Enter the Scholastone Institute through the main central entrance.
Run through the large courtyard corridor to the back of the building.
Approach the magical door at the rear. It will pulse and open automatically as you get close.
Inside the library, head to the back of the room and take either the left or right staircase to the second floor.
On the second floor, turn left and walk along the left-side balcony to the back corner.
The alchemy blueprint for Platinum sits on a bookshelf in the back corner. Pick it up.
Equip the scroll from your inventory and use your Lantern on it to learn the formula permanently.

What it Unlocks

Learning this formula enables crafting of Platinum at a Witch NPC using: 1 Gold Bar, 4 Brimstone, 3 Mercury, and 2 Holy Water. Platinum is used in endgame weapon and armor crafting recipes.

Precise Pickup Route

The Alchemy Formula: Platinum is tucked into a side passage of the Scholastone Institute library, not on any of the main reading tables. Players who walk straight through the central hall usually miss it; the recipe sits on the left wall at the back of a narrow passage that branches off the main path. Follow the steps below in order.

Travel to the Scholastone Institute. Fast travel to the nearest anchor on the institute's grounds and approach the main building.
Enter through the main gate. Open the front gate and step into the entry hall. The hall opens out toward the central reading area.
Go straight, then look for stairs on the left. From the entry, walk straight forward. A flight of stairs branches off the left wall. Take the stairs rather than continuing into the central hall.
Follow the narrow passage. The stairs lead into a narrow passage behind a row of shelves. Follow it to its end; the passage is short but easy to miss because the shelves block the line of sight from the main hall.
Pick the formula off the left wall. At the back of the passage, the Alchemy Formula: Platinum page rests on the left wall. Interact to learn the formula. If you only pick the page up without using the Learn prompt, the witch will not offer the craft.

After Pickup

Once learned, the formula enables crafting Platinum at any witch under Craft Abyss Gear -> Special Items. Each Platinum requires 1 Gold Bar, plus the per-witch quantities of Brimstone, Mercury, and Holy Water listed on the recipe screen. Common Pickup Mistakes

Walking past the staircase. The left-wall stairs blend into the shelving; if you reach the central reading hall you have gone too far.
Treating the page as a regular inventory item. The page must be Learned, not just collected; an unlearned page still leaves the witch's Platinum craft greyed out.
Skipping the prerequisite Witch unlock. If you have not yet met the witch who crafts Abyss Gear specials, learn the recipe regardless, then return once the witch is accessible.
