The Weaponsmith Workshop is the primary weapon crafting and upgrade station in Windrose. It unlocks after reaching Copper Ingots and handles all melee and firearm recipes, as well as weapon ascension from Rare to Epic using Tumbaga Ingots.
Attribute | Details |
|---|---|
Cost | 10 Wood + 5 Copper Ingot |
Placement | Within Bonfire range, requires a roof |
Upgrade | Cost |
|---|---|
10 Wood + 1 Anvil (crafted from 30 Iron Ingot) | |
20 Mire Metal Ingot + 15 Crocodile Hide Piece + 5 Hewn Stone |
Each companion upgrade raises the Weaponsmith's effective level, unlocking higher-tier recipes. The Anvil is the first major upgrade and gates mid-tier iron weapons; the Bellows is the late-game Cursed Swamps tier that opens endgame weapon recipes.
Craft all melee weapons (sabers, rapiers, greatswords, clubs, halberds)
Craft all firearms (pistols, muskets, blunderbusses)
Upgrade weapons up to level 8 at the Upgrade System paired Upgrading Station
Ascend Rare weapons to Epic using Tumbaga Ingots
The Executioner halberd is a standout craftable: 10 Wood + 7 Copper Ingots produces a Rare halberd (100 ATK / 335 Crude / Strength scaling) with stacks of the Decimation effect: each kill grants a Decimation stack that adds +10% Critical Hit Chance, up to 30% at 3 stacks. Other notable crafts include basic-tier Sabers, Rapiers, Clubs, Pistols, and Muskets that serve as workhorses through the mid-game.

The Weaponsmith Workshop is the most commonly-cited example of a station that only functions under a roof. If you walk up to the station and recipes show as greyed out despite having materials in range, the first diagnostic is always overhead coverage. A single flat roof tile directly above the workbench satisfies the check; walls are not required and a ground floor tile beneath the station is optional.
This is the same rule that governs the Alchemy Table, Armor and Clothing Workshop, Enchanting Table, Jewellery Table, and Shipwright's Workshop, so most players build a single roofed hut at their main camp and cluster all of them together.
The Weaponsmith does two fundamentally different operations on weapons, and it is easy to confuse them early on.
Operation | Result | Materials | Cap |
|---|---|---|---|
Upgrade | Raises the weapon's item level; linear damage and stat increases | Base materials (plus iron or mire metal at higher ranks) plus some of the weapon's original ingredients | Level 8 maximum; Foothills Iron Ingot is needed from roughly rank five onward |
Ascend | Converts a blue (Rare) weapon into a purple (Epic) weapon and adds a unique bonus effect | One Tumbaga Ingot | One per weapon; can only ascend once |
Upgrade a weapon as far as it can go at each tier before you ascend it. Ascension adds a unique effect on top of whatever the weapon already does, but does not replace the underlying stat line, so a fully upgraded blue weapon ascends into a significantly stronger epic than an unupgraded one. If you are unsure whether to upgrade a given weapon, the Disassembly Table will refund all of the base materials used on an upgrade pathway (though not the Tumbaga Ingot from ascension), so experimentation is safe.
Ascension bonuses are unique per weapon and often define a build. A few confirmed from player reports:
Weapon | Base Effect | Ascension Bonus |
|---|---|---|
Executioner Hellbart | Killing an enemy grants a stack of Decimation (+10% Critical Hit Chance per stack, up to 30% at 3 stacks) | While Decimation is active, you gain Apathy, granting 10% Damage Resistance |
Baseline firearm damage with a musket's slow reload | +20% Critical Damage while the musket is equipped | |
Stacks Bleeding up to 5 times on a target; each stack ticks for 40 HP | When a bleeding target dies, all remaining Bleeding stacks transfer to the nearest enemy |
The Rapier transfer effect is especially strong in multi-enemy encounters and against pirate camps; a single full-stack kill can clear a chain of nearby targets without any extra hits from you.
The Executioner Hellbart's Ward bonus is one of the best defensive tools in melee builds. A Strength-scaling player who invests in the temporal health talents can chain kills to maintain Rage, and the Ward window on ascension creates survival stretches long enough to trade blows with most bosses without healing.
The Weaponsmith is not only an upgrade station; several standout weapons are crafted directly rather than found. These give early blueprint holders a reliable starting loadout.
Weapon | Materials | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
Executioner (Rare) | 10 Wood + 7 Copper Ingots | Rare halberd with Rage scaling; one of the few crafted Rare weapons at tier one. 100 ATK and 335 Crude, Strength scaling |
Wood + Copper Ingots | Agility scaling; fast light attacks, easy to parry with. The reliable beginner workhorse | |
Wood + Copper Ingots | Precision scaling; piercing thrusts, good for dungeon clearing | |
Wood + Copper Ingots | Strength scaling; slow but stuns enemies. Strongly recommended for pirate-heavy encounters because stun interrupts their combos | |
Pistol / Musket / Blunderbuss | Wood + Copper Ingots + Gunpowder | All firearm base recipes live here; unlocks ranged playstyles once you have the gunpowder schematic |
Upgrade costs climb quickly relative to the base craft cost. A typical weapon craft uses a handful of copper ingots, but a full level-eight upgrade path can consume dozens of iron ingots, several hardwood stacks, and uncommon drops. The Disassembly Table fully refunds the base ingredients used in upgrades, so no rank-up is a wasted investment if you later replace the weapon. The Tumbaga Ingot spent on an ascension, however, does not refund.
Workers add further efficiency. Jasper Crow, a crew member hired in Tortuga for 500 piastres, has a 30% chance to recover resources spent on any upgrade. Assign him to the Weaponsmith's worker slot at the bonfire workers panel. Because upgrade costs are high in the late game, Jasper pays for himself quickly.
