Bellows is a crafting attachment that unlocks the Foothills and Cursed Swamps tier of weapon and ship-component recipes in Windrose. It attaches to both the Weaponsmith Workshop and the Shipwright's Workshop.
Recipe and Placement
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Recipe | 20 Mire Metal Ingots + 15 Crocodile Hide + 5 Hewn Stone |
Station Compatibility | Weaponsmith Workshop, Shipwright's Workshop |
Placement Rule | Anywhere inside the parent station's Bonfire build radius |
Roof Requirement | No (shares the parent Workshop's shelter requirement) |
The 20 Mire Metal Ingots requirement gates the Bellows behind Cursed Swamps exploration, since Mire Metal Ore is a swamp-tier resource. The 15 Crocodile Hide requirement gates it behind Crocodile hunting, which typically means a sustained swamp run before returning to base. The 5 Hewn Stone is the easiest component; standard Stone processed at the Crusher produces it.
What It Unlocks
Upper-tier weapon recipes. The Foothills and Cursed Swamps equivalents of the basic copper-age weapons. Examples include the Sturdy Halberd, the Sturdy Mace, and the Reliable Musket family.
Mid-tier armor recipes. Certain Rare-tier pieces of the Pikeman's Armor family that depend on Mire Metal or Swamp Iron as primary inputs.
Advanced ship components. Some hull bracings, cannon variants, and boarding gear upgrades that require Foothills or swamp metallurgy.
Why It Is the Mid-Game Gate
Without the Bellows, the upgrade ladder effectively stalls at the Copper-to-Iron transition. Players who push into the Foothills early but never place a Bellows often find themselves stockpiling Mire Metal Ingots with nothing to craft. Placing the Bellows is the trigger that turns Foothills resources into actual progression.
Placement Tips
The attachment does not need to sit against the Workshop; any spot inside the Bonfire build radius counts
Placing the Bellows near the Smelting Furnace reduces walk-back time for Mire Metal processing
Dismantling the Bellows at the Disassembly Table refunds all 40 input materials at 100 percent, so relocating it is risk-free
