There are 10 unique Dark-type Pokemon found across the Habitat Dex in Pokopia. Dark-type Pokemon appear across 15 habitat entries spanning four of the five main regions plus the Special category. Of the 10 Dark-type Pokemon, 6 have a secondary type. Pokemon with dual types appear on multiple type pages.
Dark-type Pokemon in Pokopia primarily specialize in Chop and Trade specialties. The Chop specialty lets Pokemon process small logs into Lumber, which is one of the most essential crafting materials in the game. The Trade specialty lets Pokemon exchange items with you at a cash register. Several Dark-types also carry Grow, Litter, Fly, and Search specialties, making them versatile helpers for island development.

In addition to the 10 permanently available Dark-type Pokemon, Sableye (Dark/Ghost) is available through a limited-time event. The Sableye event runs from April 29 through May 13, 2026. During the event, Sableye appears in the Withered Wasteland outside the Pokemon Center. You need to build the Treasure-hunting Set habitat to make it happy. For full details, see the Sableye Event Guide.
Dark-type Pokemon appear across four of the five main regions. The earliest ones you can find are Cacturne (available in any area once you build a Tree-Shaded Flower Bed) and the Bleak Beach Dark-types like Zorua and Absol.
Several Dark-type Pokemon are Rare or Very Rare. Tyranitar at the Mossy Rest Spot in Rocky Ridges is Very Rare, so building the habitat does not guarantee an immediate spawn. Be patient and check back regularly.
Zoroark has both Chop and Trade specialties, making it one of the most versatile Dark-type Pokemon. It appears in two habitats in Bleak Beach.
For Lumber production, prioritize befriending Chop specialists like Absol or Zoroark. Place them near a wood processing area for efficient Lumber conversion.
Cacturne only appears at night. Make sure to check its habitat after dark if you are looking for it specifically.
Check the Habitat Dex for complete habitat construction requirements and the Pokemon Specialties page for a full breakdown of each specialty.
