The Reputation System is a planned social mechanic for inZOI that will measure how the outside world perceives a Zoi based on local community perception. Director Hyungjun Kim has emphasized that Reputation is separate from the existing Karma system: where Karma tracks a Zoi's internal moral path (functioning as a probability modifier for everyday outcomes), Reputation will measure how others talk about the Zoi, their public standing in the community, and how society responds to their presence.
The Reputation System was originally announced in the December 26, 2025 2026 Roadmap Part 1 letter as a Q1 2026 deliverable. As of April 25, 2026, the feature has not yet shipped on the live build (v0.7.5) and was not included in the v0.7.0 anniversary update. It remains in active development with no specific release window confirmed.
Per public announcements, the Reputation System will include:
Component | Description |
|---|---|
Local Community Reputation | Each Zoi will have a reputation score within their immediate community, determined by how their actions are perceived by neighbors and acquaintances. |
Distinct From Karma | Some actions affect Karma but not Reputation, and vice versa. For example, anonymous charity might boost Karma without changing Reputation, while public speeches might raise Reputation without affecting Karma. |
Karma Subdivision | Karma will be split into multiple areas (relationships, legacy, self-trust, social harm). Each area tracks separately rather than collapsing into a single score. |
Luck System | A separate luck mechanic, influenced by Karma, will sit alongside Reputation. High good Karma can trigger rare miracle reversals during major life events. |
Competitive Interactions | Rivalries will form when Zois compete for shared goals. Interactions during these rivalries help determine winners and losers. |
While exact mechanics have not been finalised, the developer letters describe several scenarios the system is designed to support:
Silent guardian roleplay: A Zoi who helps the community anonymously can build high Karma without raising their public Reputation, allowing for low-key altruism gameplay.
Public influencer roleplay: A Zoi who gives public speeches or hosts visible community events can build Reputation without committing strongly moral or immoral acts.
Negative Reputation consequences: Zois with low Reputation may face cooler reactions from NPCs, fewer community-event invitations, or rumours spreading through the social network.
Reputation-based unlocks: Some community interactions and events may require minimum Reputation thresholds to unlock, similar to how some Karma-gated interactions work today.
The Reputation System is part of a broader cluster of social and personality features queued in the 2026 roadmap.
Competitive System and Rivals runs in parallel with Reputation. Rivalry interactions will feed into both systems.
Fame and Celebrity will sit on top of Reputation. Becoming a celebrity will require high public visibility, which Reputation tracks.
Karma will be reworked alongside Reputation so the two systems track distinct things.
