How professions work

Starsand Island has five profession paths. Each profession has a dedicated mentor NPC who teaches you the basics, assigns tasks, and certifies your rank advancement at the Community Center (run by Solara). Professions progress through tiers: Apprentice → Junior → Intermediate → Senior → Expert. Each tier unlocks new abilities, recipes, and access to higher-level content.

The five professions

Farmer

Mentor: Graminova (Happiness Seed Shop)

Grow seasonal crops, create giant crops (Gmax), cross-breed flowers, and manage your farm. Crop growth times range from 12 hours to 21 days depending on the crop and season. Higher Farmer ranks unlock wild seed identification, fertilizer crafting, and more advanced crop types. A solid first profession because farming generates steady income.

Angler

Mentor: Delphin (AquaBlue Outpost)

Fish across 105+ species in 6 fishing locations: lakes, rivers, the ocean, and 3 deep-sea areas (Coral Sea, Luminwave, Celestwave) accessible via the Parrot Ship. Crafter

Mentor: Zerine (General Store)

Make items from raw resources at 12+ crafting stations. Zerine gives you your first skateboard when you become an Apprentice Crafter. Higher ranks unlock new crafting stations, recipes, and the ability to build increasingly complex vehicles and furniture. Instant crafting vs. timed crafting depends on the item.

Rancher

Mentor: Pastelle (Green Pasture Ranch)

Raise 13+ ranch animals including rabbits, chickens, cows, pigs, sheep, alpacas, and ostriches. Breed animals with DNA traits (both positive and negative). Collect products (eggs, milk, wool) and use animal helpers for farm tasks. Higher ranks unlock more animal types, advanced breeding, and mounts.

Explorer

Mentor: Zephyria (Exploration Club)

Combat in the Moonlit Forest using slingshots and bows. Defeat bosses like Crystalith and Glintortle to unlock deeper areas. Tame corrupted creatures. Mining for rare crafting materials is a core Explorer activity. Zephyria provides your first Slingshot blueprint.

Progression tiers

• Apprentice: Starting rank. Unlocks basic abilities and recipes for the profession

• Junior: First advancement. Expands available activities and improves efficiency

• Intermediate: Mid-level. Unlocks specialized features unique to each profession

• Senior: Advanced rank. Access to high-tier content and rare items

• Expert: Highest rank. Full mastery of the profession's systems

Rank advancement requires completing specific tasks assigned by your mentor and certifying at the Community Center. Each tier has both skill-based requirements (catch X fish, grow Y crops) and resource-based requirements.

Recommended progression order

While all professions can be pursued simultaneously, many players find this order efficient:

1. Farmer: Start here for steady income from crops

2. Crafter: Unlock tools and stations that benefit other professions

3. Angler: Fishing is profitable and provides cooking ingredients

4. Rancher: Requires some initial investment in animals and infrastructure

5. Explorer: Combat requires good equipment and food buffs from other professions
