Overview

Primaera is the continent where Honor of Kings: World takes place. Third-party sources report the explorable area at roughly 64 square kilometers, containing over 30 dungeons, 20 settlements, and 200 points of interest. The Kingdom of Chang'an is the central hub city.
History and lore
According to the game's lore, ancient humans fled their dying homeworld using an Ark powered by "the heart of the universe." They arrived at Primaera, an energy-rich planet, and over time transformed into godlike beings, establishing a realm called Celestia. These former humans created new civilizations and built structures called the Twelve Wonders, including the Sun Tower, to harness the planet's energy.
Before human arrival, Primaera was home to the Ferali, animal-bodied creatures whom the Gods enslaved as laborers. Some humans were enhanced through experiments to become Enforcers; those who failed the process became Anomalics (civilians).
Excessive energy collection caused widespread pollution and mutations. The goddess Nuwa sent Hou Yi to close the polluted Sun Tower. Later, the god Diqun sought unlimited power, triggering the War of Gods, which ended with Diqun's death. Nuwa sealed the Ark's Core and distributed its key across the Twelve Wonders before dying.
Three thousand years later, Diqun has mysteriously revived as a consciousness without a body. The explorer Marco Polo is searching for the sealed Ark Core, possibly to restore Diqun's physical form. Fuzi, the headmaster of Jixia Academy and an ancient Enforcer who witnessed the War of Gods firsthand, leads efforts to prevent the Core's misuse.
The nine regions
Primaera is divided into nine major named regions in the broader lore:
Sunset
Alsahraa
Northlands
Central Plains
The First Lands
Riverlands
Zhulu Plateau
Three Kingdoms
Tonpuu Shore
How many of these are explorable at launch versus existing only as background lore has not been confirmed.
Explorable locations
The official website shows the following specific zones:
Jixia Academy is described as "one of the premier institutions of learning in the land of Primaera," with three specialist schools for gifted individuals. It is the player's starting area.
Springbrook Plains is where students begin their academic journey. The area features ancient ruins on open plains and wetlands that serve as testing grounds.
Stargazing Range is a mountainous area with the Stargazing Terrace, described as a prime location for observing stars at moonrise.
Underground is a subterranean realm with abandoned ruins available for exploration. The official site describes it as containing secrets left behind by previous civilizations.
Dragon Valley was formed where a dragon once fell. Its skeletal remains now form a network of ruins that serve as training grounds.
East Aerfall Highlands contains remnants of a forgotten civilization. Ancient Mechanoids and crumbling structures tell the story of a once-advanced society.
West Aerfall Highlands is home to Frostcloud Town, a guild gathering hub. The champion Novar, described as "the celebrated champion of the Enlightenment Trails," is associated with this region.
Dreamweave Plains contains the Harvest Fields where students apply what they've learned. A local tradition holds that the Harvest Bell helps with exam success.
The Flow
"The Flow" is a mystical energy source that permeates Primaera. It forms the basis of the game's combat system and is central to the world's lore. Students at Jixia Academy learn to harness the Flow, and the Flowborn protagonist has an unusual natural affinity for it. VGC's preview described the Flow as the connective tissue linking combat, exploration, and narrative.
