Overview
Celestia is "the divine residence of the Gods who arrived on the world of Primaera." These gods were originally humans who escaped the destruction of their home planet using an advanced technology, the Ark. After landing on Primaera, they transcended their mortality "through utilizing the energy harnessed from the spiritual essence underground by the Twelve Wonders they built, particularly the Sun Tower to sustain their abode." Celestia exists above and beyond the mortal continent, unreachable by ordinary beings.
The divine realm
Celestia is described as a realm sustained by concentrated Flow energy. A plane of existence where the laws of the mortal world do not apply. It is depicted in visions and flashback sequences as a luminous, ethereal expanse. The architecture of Celestia resembles a grander version of the Twelve Wonders, as the Wonders were modeled after Celestia's own structures.
The gods who inhabit Celestia are not primordial beings in the traditional mythological sense. They are evolved humans whose physical forms became manifestations of concentrated Flow energy rather than biological bodies. Their power comes from their direct connection to the Heart of the Universe, and the Sun Tower served as the primary conduit channeling Primaera's underground energy to sustain their residence.
The Ark
The Ark is "an advanced technology harnessed by ancient humans to escape the destruction of their original home planet." Its core (the Heart of the Universe) powered a colossal vessel that transported these humans across several light-years to Primaera, an energy-rich but unexplored world. The Ark is described variably as a ship, a machine, and a living entity. The lore intentionally leaves its exact nature ambiguous.
After the War of Gods, Nuwa sealed the Ark's core with her last strength and placed the key within the Twelve Wonders, hoping that someone who could correctly control the power would appear in the future.
Heart of the Universe
The Heart of the Universe is both the Ark's core and the original source of all Flow energy. It powered the interstellar journey to Primaera and continues to sustain the world's energy systems, even in its sealed state. The Flow energy that permeates Primaera is a diluted, filtered version of the Heart's output, channeled through the Ark and regulated by the Twelve Wonders.
The War of Gods
The most devastating event in Celestia's history was the War of Gods. A civil war among the divine beings who competed for the right to speak and rule. The conflict ended with the defeat and death of Diqun, and most gods were killed or wounded. This catastrophe led Nuwa to recognize the dangers of unchecked power and prompted her to seal the Ark's core.
After the war, Nuwa entrusted two sages (Fuzi and Ziya (Jiang Ziya)) with guarding humanity. Fuzi went on to found Jixia Academy, becoming the first of the Three Sages of Jixia alongside Zhuangzi and Mozi. The later conflict between Fuzi's and Ziya's factions (the Enforcers' War) further shaped Primaera's political order.
The gods' withdrawal
The gods' withdrawal from mortal affairs was not a single decision but a consequence of the War of Gods. With most divine beings dead or weakened, and the Ark sealed, the gods could no longer directly intervene at scale. Nuwa's choice to seal the core (protecting mortals from catastrophic misuse) simultaneously ended the era of divine stewardship. The mortal world was left to develop on its own, guided by the sages Nuwa had appointed.
