Bloodflies are aggressive insect swarmers that live in the swamps and humid lowlands of the Valley of Mines. Alkimia Interactive has confirmed a redesigned Bloodfly for the remake, with development stills released alongside its bestiary work.
Fast and airborne. Bloodflies close in quickly and attack from angles that are awkward for melee weapons.
Swarm threat. They spawn in groups, which makes them more dangerous than their individual damage would suggest.
Swamp hazard. Encounters around the Swamp Camp and similar wetland areas are common.
Trait | Detail |
|---|---|
Tier | Low individually, mid as a swarm. A single Bloodfly is a minor threat; a group of them around a fixed encounter is a real damage problem for an under-trained Hero. |
Movement | Airborne. Bloodflies hover above ground level and attack from angles that are awkward for a flat melee swing, which means the Hero often has to commit to a wide arc or angle up at them. |
Encounter Size | Almost always grouped. Lone Bloodflies are uncommon; the encounter pattern is a cluster sweeping the Hero from multiple directions. |
Stamina Pressure | A Bloodfly fight drains stamina faster than the damage exchange would suggest, because the Hero is constantly resetting position. The remake's Combat System punishes panicked swings. |
Terrain | Detail |
|---|---|
Swamp | Bloodflies cluster around the wet edge of the Swamp Camp and the marshy paths leading into it. They are part of why approaching the Brotherhood through the swamp is a hostile journey for an early-game Hero. |
Humid Lowlands | Damp pockets of the Valley of Mines outside the swamp proper also host Bloodfly clusters, especially around still water and rotting vegetation. |
Camp Perimeters | The wetland fringes near the camps are not Bloodfly-free, but the populated areas have enough movement to keep their numbers thinner than in the open swamp. |
Because Bloodflies are small, airborne, and fast, the parry-and-riposte pattern that works on humanoid enemies is less reliable. A Bow is the cleanest answer at range because the remake's headshot-as-critical rule rewards aimed shots against airborne targets. Spells from the Hero's Magic and Runes toolkit are a strong alternative once the Hero has the casting points to spare. In melee, patient arcing swings that account for the altitude differential are more effective than horizontal sword chops.
