Reconciled the two chapter-count schemes explicitly: the chapter-select menu shows 10 chapters plus a prologue (the two Mauritania chapters merged), while the full playthrough has 17 numbered segments; replaced the vague discrepancy note with a mapping table
007 First Light's campaign is structured as a prologue followed by ten named chapters. Several chapters split into multiple mission segments, bringing the total to seventeen numbered segments across a full playthrough. The chapter-select menu groups those segments under the named chapters. This article covers each chapter at a high level; deeper coverage of individual mission segments is in the Missions article.

The seventeen-segment total comes from counting interlude and sub-mission designations alongside the eleven primary chapters. Mission segments are listed in detail in the Missions article.
Iceland. The opening establishes Bond as a Royal Navy aircrewman whose helicopter rescue mission collapses into a survival-and-improvisation tutorial. Includes the "Icebreaker" trophy. See Against the Odds for the full mission breakdown.
Malta. Bond joins the 00 Programme at IO Interactive's training facility. The chapter introduces the bluff system, gadget loadouts, the Tactical Simulation terminal, and the senior MI6 leadership. The companion segment, In His Majesty's Secret Service, covers Bond's formal commission. Trophy: "From Malta with love." See The Needle's Eye.
London. Bond's first field assignment puts him in a London nightclub. The chapter introduces social stealth in a crowded environment, dialogue-bluff fail states, and the named NPCs Joshua Pike, Cressida, and Monroe. The chapter is preceded by The Heart of the Matter, which unlocks the core gadget loadout (Q-Watch, Q-Lens, Laser, Dart Phone). Trophy: "Shaken not stirred." See A Night Out.
Slovakia. Bond pursues the rogue agent 009 through a high-altitude air drop and a hotel set-piece, culminating in an Aston Martin DBS chase against the Jaguar XKR Coupe driven by 009. The chapter includes a hotel explosion ("I expect you to die"), a plane jump ("Skyfall"), and the discovery of 009's body ("Nobody lives forever"). The companion segment A Matter of Considerable Delicacy unlocks Smoke Pods and Flash Mine. See All the Time in the World.
Mauritania. The investigation pivots toward the Webb family conspiracy. The chapter features a tactical infiltration, the trophy "Win, lose or die" tied to winning an auction sequence, and the bridge segment Out of the Ashes. See The Past Never Dies.
Mauritania. The second Mauritania chapter develops a heavier action lean, including an assassination-survival sequence ("A hard man to kill") and a culminating boss fight ("You only live twice"). See Beyond the Grave.
London (Kensington). A high-society museum gala at Nicholas Webb's penthouse. The chapter introduces the Shockwave Camera gadget. Four named approach routes are available: Above and Beyond, Staff Only, The Stamp, and Brute Force. The chapter includes the "Agent under fire" (bin lorry escape), "All time high" (penthouse infiltration), and "No time to die" (helicopter escape) trophies. See Uninvited.
Webb Industries. The corporate set-piece climax to the Webb arc. Bond rescues Theresa Lorca ("Double or die"), defeats the major boss Damien Webb ("You know my name"), and acquires the Missile Pen gadget partway through the chapter. The companion segment Going Old School covers a flashback or framing sequence tied to the antagonist. See Knightfall.
Vietnam. A luxury spa hides a group of intelligence targets. Bond is tasked with planting trackers across a broad social environment. The chapter forces a confrontation in which Bond is forced out of MI6 status ("Solo"), and the companion segment Man of the Hour bridges the events into the Antarctica arc. See Time to Die.
Antarctica. A remote installation set piece. The chapter culminates in catching Isola ("The writing is on the wall"). The environment tests stealth and combat under harsher constraints than the campaign's urban missions. See Wave of the Future.
MI6 Headquarters. The finale is a defensive mission. Bond leads the defense of MI6 itself against the conspiracy's coordinated attack. Trophy: "For king and country." See For England.
Two different chapter counts both describe the same campaign and neither is wrong; they count at different levels of detail.
Scheme | Count | What It Counts |
|---|---|---|
Chapter-select menu | 10 chapters plus a prologue | The named chapters shown as discrete, replayable entries; the two Mauritania chapters are merged under one entry |
Full playthrough progression | 17 numbered segments | Every mission segment counted individually, including interludes and sub-missions that the menu groups under a parent chapter |
The clearest example of the difference is Mauritania. The full progression counts two Mauritania chapters, The Past Never Dies and Beyond the Grave, but the chapter-select menu shows them merged as a single entry. The same grouping is why a single mission such as A Night Out can be referred to with different numbers in different places: the chapter-select menu and some official patch notes use the menu numbering, while a full mission-by-mission progression list assigns it a higher number among the 17 segments. The Missions article lists the full segment-by-segment progression.
