Vietnam is the location of Chapter 8 (Time to Die) in 007 First Light. The chapter is set at a luxury resort called The Pearl, where Bond must plant trackers on a group of intelligence targets across a broad social environment. The chapter forces Bond out of formal MI6 status.
Story Context
The Vietnam chapter combines social stealth at scale with a major story turn: Bond is forced out of MI6 by events during the mission. The luxury spa setting hosts multiple antagonist faction members staying as guests; the surveillance mission tasks Bond with planting Q-Traks on targets including Ramon Hernandez, Theresa Lorca, and Ellis White without being detected.
Theresa Lorca, one of the surveillance targets, is a geneticist targeted by Damien Webb as part of a cover-up, and Bond saves her during the chapter. The chapter also closes the mentor arc: Bond is captured by Damien Webb and freed by John Greenway, who is fatally wounded in the escape; his death scene ends the Vietnam sequence.
The mission's final stretch leaves the resort entirely. After a speedboat arrival, the closing sequence runs through an industrial mining quarry with vehicle segments, a sharp shift from the social-stealth resort setting. Within the resort itself, the Lantern Bar is one of the named venues.

IO Interactive's Year One content roadmap, revealed in June 2026, includes a Tactical Simulation Mode update that returns players to The Pearl after a new enemy takes control of the resort, with Bond tasked to take him down. Re-checked on September 13, 2026, no release date had been announced.

The free Extended Operations update returned to The Pearl on October 1, 2026 with Jungle Heist, an Operation in Tactical Simulation Mode. Bond must retrieve valuable documents from a safe inside a guarded villa. The entire property is active, including its rooftop, and the villa interior has been rebuilt for stealth. Attempts can unfold differently. This Operation is separate from the launch campaign's surveillance and story events.
For the campaign, Update 1.3.0 repaired the Emperor Villa pool lockup, a ledge jump near Serenity that could stop working after one use, Theresa's documents falling into the pool and the Teresa Lorca Intel item disappearing after resuming. Update 1.3.1 repaired an invalid movement stance when Bond stayed behind a wooden crate destroyed after Greenway's return, and a path-traced shadow beside the first-floor blue painting.
