Beyond the Grave is Chapter 5 of 007 First Light. The second of the two Mauritania chapters, it has a heavier action lean than its predecessor. The chapter includes an assassination-survival sequence and a culminating boss fight against a major antagonist's assassin.

Story Beats
Ambush escape. Bond escapes an ambush organized by the Webb faction (trophy: Trigger Mortis).

The investigation confirms that 009, Rhys Beckett, was killed and was himself the target of the Slovakia bombing rather than its mastermind, but the proof is destroyed in a mercenary ambush. M declares Beckett responsible and orders the case closed. Part of the evidence trail runs through a wrecked cargo ship that Bond and John Greenway explore along the Aleph coastline.
