Overview
Bounty hunting is a rewarding side activity in Crimson Desert. After apprehending an outlaw, you need to deliver them to the correct constabulary to claim your reward. The bounty system unlocks during Chapter 2: Golden Greed, starting with a tutorial bounty involving Jeffrey that teaches you the basics of capture and delivery.
Finding Bounty Posters
Bounty notices are posted on bulletin boards and posts in towns, smaller settlements, and roadsides. They appear on the minimap as a purple letter icon. Interact with a poster to accept the bounty and learn the outlaw's last known location. Each notice also specifies which constabulary to visit for the turn-in.
Where to Deliver Outlaws
You turn in captured outlaws at the constabulary in the region that issued the bounty. The bounty notice itself specifies which constabulary to visit. For most bounties picked up in or around Hernand, the guard station is located along the western edge of the city, just outside the town walls near Oakenshield Manor.
Note that the outlaw's hiding location does not always match the issuing region. An outlaw may be found far outside Hernand, but you still bring them back to the Hernand constabulary if that is what the poster says. Always read the bottom of the bounty notice for the correct turn-in location.
As you progress through the story and explore more of Pywel, additional constabulary offices become accessible in other major settlements. Each region has its own constabulary that handles local bounties.
Capturing Outlaws Alive
To capture a target alive, you must knock them down without killing them. When an outlaw's health drops low enough, tackle them by pressing the grapple button, then tie them up. Once restrained, carry the outlaw to your horse and ride to the constabulary. Kliff automatically slings the prisoner over the horse when you mount.
Avoid using your strongest weapon abilities near the end of the fight, since a big hit can accidentally kill the target.
While transporting a prisoner on horseback, avoid enemy camps and hostile areas. If your horse takes too much damage or bucks, both Kliff and the prisoner will fall off.
Stick to roads when possible. The direct path is often safer than cutting through wilderness full of bandits and wildlife.
Rewards
Outcome | Silver Reward | Contribution EXP |
|---|---|---|
Captured alive | Full bounty amount (listed on poster) | Full contribution EXP |
Killed | Half the listed silver amount | Full contribution EXP (unchanged) |
Turning in bounties also boosts your contribution with the House Celeste faction, which unlocks faction rewards and higher-tier bounty contracts. Bringing outlaws in alive always pays full silver, while killing them cuts the silver reward in half. Contribution EXP is the same regardless of whether the target is alive or dead.
Tips
Stock up on recovery items before heading out. Some outlaws hit hard, and the return trip can be dangerous.
If the outlaw escapes during a contract mission, they may reappear in the same location later. Return to try again.
You can also clear personal bounties on Kliff's head by visiting a church and purchasing a Writ of Absolution from the Confessional NPC.
Higher-tier bounties become available as your House Celeste reputation increases, offering larger silver payouts and better rewards.
