Overview
Secret at the Church is a puzzle-focused quest in Chapter 5 of Crimson Desert. Kliff investigates an orphanage and a nearby church in the Demeniss region, searching for information about the Crowcaller's origins. The quest involves two puzzles: a button sequence in a crypt and a ring-rotation mechanism at the Pillar of Radiance.
Walkthrough
Gather Information at the Orphanage
Navigate to the search area within the orphanage grounds. Look for a doorway on the north side of the courtyard and interact with it. A cutscene plays where a female NPC provides backstory about the church and the events connected to the Crowcaller.
Obtain the Church's Relic
Travel south from the orphanage to reach the church. Go around the back of the building to find the crypt entrance. Enter and descend the ladder to reach an altar with a puzzle box.
Crypt Puzzle Solution
The puzzle box has four corner buttons that need to be pressed in sequence. Each button illuminates a symbol when pressed correctly. The correct order is:
Top-left corner button
Bottom-right corner button
Bottom-left corner button
Top-right corner button
Pressing all four in the correct sequence awards the Dagger of Radiance.
Activate the Pillar of Radiance
Return to the surface and find the Pillar of Radiance, located between the church and the orphanage. Target it with L1 / LB and interact with Square / X. This starts the second puzzle.
Ring Rotation Puzzle
The Pillar of Radiance displays a set of concentric rings that you need to rotate to form an eye symbol. Use the directional inputs to select which ring to move, and left/right to rotate each ring. This puzzle works similarly to the mechanism in the Gate to the Otherworld quest from Chapter 4. Align all rings so the eye shape is complete to finish the puzzle.
Tips
The crypt puzzle order is always Top-left, Bottom-right, Bottom-left, Top-right. There is no randomization between playthroughs.
If you completed the Gate to the Otherworld puzzle in Chapter 4, the ring rotation mechanic will feel familiar. The concept is the same, just with a different target shape.
Make sure to grab the Dagger of Radiance before leaving the crypt. You need it for the pillar interaction.
