Overview
The Golden Plains is a sub-region within the Demeniss territory on the continent of Pywel. Known for its sweeping grasslands and rolling hills, the area sits near the Byron Estate and serves as a transitional zone between the settled heartlands of Demeniss and the wilder outskirts of the region. The Golden Plains are rich in ancient ruins, environmental puzzles, and hidden treasures, making them a must-visit destination for explorers seeking Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Cressets.
The region is notable for its pair of interconnected puzzle sites: the Golden Plains Ancient Ruins and the Golden Plains Secret Chamber. Both reward players with powerful Abyss Artifacts upon completion, and the Abyss Cressets found here double as fast travel points once activated.
Geography and Landscape
The Golden Plains sit in the eastern reaches of Demeniss, characterized by wide open fields dotted with clusters of trees and scattered stone formations. The terrain is mostly flat with gentle inclines, providing long sightlines across the surrounding countryside. To the north, the area borders the Byron Estate grounds, while to the south it transitions into rockier, more uneven terrain that leads toward the outer edges of the Demeniss territory.
Several dirt paths wind through the plains, connecting the ruins to nearby settlements and other points of interest. The area is relatively open compared to forested regions, which makes it easy to spot enemies at a distance but also leaves little cover during combat encounters.
Points of Interest
Golden Plains Ancient Ruins (Statue Puzzle)
The Ancient Ruins in the Golden Plains contain a statue puzzle that must be solved to reveal a hidden Abyss Cresset. The puzzle involves four statues arranged in a circle around a central pedestal. Players must rotate each statue so that it faces the center. Only two of the four statues actually need to be moved, but one is hidden behind dense bushes and can be easy to miss.
To find the concealed statue, look for thick vegetation near the ruins and burn it away using fire or the Blinding Flash ability. Once all four statues face the central pedestal, the Abyss Cresset activates, granting access to an Abyss Artifact and establishing a new fast travel point.
Golden Plains Secret Chamber
Southeast of the Ancient Ruins, near the Byron Estate, lies a destroyed ruin that serves as the entrance to the Golden Plains Secret Chamber. The entrance is blocked by spiky vines that must be burned away using fire or the Blinding Flash ability. Inside, the chamber consists of three rooms. Two of the rooms are empty, while the third leads to a larger chamber filled with spike traps and a zipline.
To navigate the spike-filled room, use your lantern to aim at the zipline handle above and press Jump to Target to grab it. Slide down safely to reach the far side, where a hidden room contains an Abyss Cresset and another Abyss Artifact.
The Secret Chamber puzzle requires players to press a series of buttons in the correct order. The solution is determined by clues found at marked locations on the map, which appear when you first enter the chamber. These clues reference symbols such as horses and pomegranates. Following the clue trail and pressing the correct buttons unlocks the final chamber.
Abyss Cressets in the Golden Plains
The Golden Plains contain two Abyss Cressets, one from the statue puzzle and one from the Secret Chamber. Both serve as permanent fast travel points once activated, allowing players to return to the area at any time through the world map.
Enemies and Wildlife
The Golden Plains are home to several types of hostile creatures. Small white mushroom-like creatures patrol certain areas around the ruins, approaching players to deal contact damage. These enemies are relatively weak but can catch unaware explorers off guard. Inside the Secret Chamber, players must contend with environmental hazards including fire traps and spike traps rather than traditional enemies.
The open fields of the Golden Plains may also contain roaming bandits and wild animals, depending on the player's progression through the main story. Higher-level players may encounter tougher enemy variants in the area during later chapters.

Tips
Bring fire-based tools or the Blinding Flash ability before visiting. Both puzzle sites have vine barriers that must be burned to access.
Use the lantern's Guiding Light (hold the Lantern and Normal Attack buttons) to highlight hidden Abyss Cressets and puzzle elements with a blue glow.
The Secret Chamber's button puzzle clues are scattered across marked locations on the map. Check all marked locations before attempting to solve the puzzle.
Activating the Abyss Cressets here provides convenient fast travel access to the eastern Demeniss region.
Watch out for the small mushroom creatures near the ruins. They are easy to miss but will deal damage if they make contact.
