The Blackwing Armor Set is a five-piece leather armor collection in Crimson Desert. Recognizable by its deep black dye and refined craftsmanship, the set covers every equipment slot: headgear, body armor, gloves, footwear, and cloak. Three of the five pieces are hidden inside secret treasure chests scattered around the Hernand region, while the remaining two drop from a Chapter 5 boss encounter. Collecting the full set rewards players with a striking visual look and a strong combination of defense, movement speed, critical rate, and lightning resistance that holds up well through the mid-game.
Armor sets in Crimson Desert share a visual theme but do not currently provide set bonuses when multiple pieces are worn together. Each piece is refined and upgraded independently at a Blacksmith. Even so, the Blackwing collection stands out because every piece contributes to Lightning Resistance, making it an especially effective loadout against lightning-based enemies and environmental hazards.
The five pieces of the Blackwing set are spread across three hidden treasure chests and the Crowcaller boss fight at the end of Chapter 5. Each piece can be collected in any order, except the two that drop together from the boss.
Piece | Slot | Location | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|---|
Crow's Nest | Defeat Crowcaller (Chapter 5: Black and White) | ||
Crow's Nest | Defeat Crowcaller (Chapter 5: Black and White) | ||
Hidden chest (collapsing floor) | |||
Hidden chest (Force Punch breakable floor) | |||
Cloak | Hidden chest (breakable wall behind barn) |
The table below shows the base stats for each piece at Refinement Level 0. All five pieces can be refined at a Blacksmith to increase their stats.
Piece | DEF | ATK | Lightning Res. | Special | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4 | - | Lv. 1 | - | - | Reinforcement DEF +6 | |
12 | - | Lv. 1 | - | Lv. 1 | 3 Abyss Core Slots | |
3 | 13 | - | Lv. 2 | Lv. 1 | +0.2 HP/sec Regen | |
2 | 12 | Lv. 1 | Lv. 1 | Lv. 1 | +2% Stamina Regen | |
- | - | - | - | Lv. 1 | Lightning Protection |
When all five pieces are worn together, the player gains a combined Lightning Resistance of at least Lv. 4 or higher, making this one of the strongest lightning-resistant loadouts available in the early game. The pair of gloves and boots together provide 25 ATK, a significant offensive boost on top of the defensive stats.
Both the Blackwing Mask and the Blackwing Leather Armor are guaranteed drops from defeating Crowcaller, the boss at the end of the Black and White main quest in Chapter 5: Guest Unbidden. Crowcaller is an Abyss-corrupted enemy found at the Crow's Nest, wielding dark crow-themed abilities. The fight is a multi-phase encounter that also awards the Tauria Curved Sword. There is no RNG involved; both armor pieces are added to your inventory automatically once the boss is defeated.
The Blackwing Leather Gloves are located in a hidden treasure chest inside the Sanctum of Penitence. Finding them requires a bit of platforming through the building.
Enter the Sanctum of Penitence from the southern entrance and head up the stairs to the upper floors.
Move into the open roofless area near the top of the building.
Near the edge of the open section, look for shaking debris and a red notification indicator. These signal an unstable floor tile.
Step onto the collapsing tile to trigger it, then drop through the opening that appears.
The treasure chest is directly in front of you at the bottom. Open it to claim the Blackwing Leather Gloves.
This location is easy to miss. Many players walk through the Sanctum without ever noticing the breakable floor, so keep an eye out for the telltale debris shaking and the red on-screen notification.
The Blackwing Leather Boots are hidden inside the church tower at St. Halssius's House of Healing. Reaching them requires the Force Punch ability.
Travel to St. Halssius's House of Healing in the Serkis Estate area of Hernand.
Find the ladder on the outside of the building and climb to the roof. Use the exterior approach to avoid the guards inside, since the House of Healing is a restricted zone.
From the roof, jump across to the right-side tower and enter through the open window near the top.
On the floor of the tower room, locate the central tile. Crouch and use Force Punch on it.
The tile will flip open, dropping Kliff down to a concealed chamber below.
Open the treasure chest in the chamber to claim the Blackwing Leather Boots.
The tile flip is a one-time mechanism. After collecting the boots, you can climb back out using the surrounding walls and ledges.
The Blackwing Leather Cloak is hidden in a chest in Pororin Village. The village itself is locked behind a prerequisite quest.
Complete the The Unreachable Village quest to unlock access to Pororin Village. This is a relic quest that must be finished before the village area becomes reachable.
Once in the village, look for a farm with a wooden shed or barn near the signpost.
Go around to the right side of the shed. There is a breakable plank wall.
Break through the plank wall to access the hidden area behind it.
Open the treasure chest inside to claim the Blackwing Leather Cloak.
The cloak is particularly effective against lightning damage, continuing the set's lightning resistance theme.
There is no strict order required to collect the set, but the following sequence works well with natural story progression:
Blackwing Leather Gloves (Sanctum of Penitence): available as soon as you can reach the area during free exploration. Offers an immediate offensive boost with 13 ATK and Lv.2 Critical Rate.
Blackwing Leather Boots (House of Healing): accessible during or after the Familiar Curses questline. Requires Force Punch, which is unlocked through main quest progression.
Blackwing Leather Cloak (Pororin Village): requires completing The Unreachable Village quest. This is a side quest that becomes available in the mid-game.
Blackwing Mask + Blackwing Leather Armor (Crowcaller): these two are story-locked behind Chapter 5. By the time you defeat Crowcaller, you may already have the other three pieces equipped.
The full Blackwing set has one of the most visually distinctive looks in Crimson Desert. The deep black dye gives the armor a sleek, intimidating appearance. The mask in particular stands out, covering Kliff's face with a stylized crow-like design. Paired with the sweeping cloak, the full ensemble gives Kliff a dark, almost rogue-like silhouette. Community reception has been very positive, with many players calling it one of the best-looking sets in the game.
The three hidden chest pieces (gloves, boots, cloak) are all in locations that are easy to miss on a casual playthrough. If you are going for the full set, check these areas carefully.
The combined Lightning Resistance from the full set makes it a strong choice for fights against lightning-themed enemies and bosses.
Each piece can be refined independently at a Blacksmith. Prioritize refining the chest armor and gloves, since they offer the largest stat increases per refinement level.
The gloves offer the highest Critical Rate (Lv.2) of any gloves available in the early-to-mid game. Even if you swap out other set pieces later, the gloves remain competitive for a long time.
The Blackwing Mask's Reinforcement gauge (40/40 with DEF +6 maximum) makes it one of the most upgradeable headgear pieces in the game, pushing its defense to 10 when fully reinforced.
