Regions and Zones
September 14, 2026 at 01:24 AM
Added the sprout and Amber node placements and the collision and progression fixes from the August 28 and September 8 patches
The world is organised on two levels. Five large areas form the overall route, and each area holds several distinct zones with their own layouts, enemies, and resources. Travel between areas happens aboard the walking vessel rather than across a connected overworld, which is why the game reads as a sequence of self-contained regions rather than one continuous map.
The route runs roughly east to west, starting in the Kanto Region and ending at the old capital. Official patch notes name several of these places directly, including the Fuji Frontier Zone, Pilgrim's Zone and its Belfry, Cave, and Stone Chamber sections, and Subcity 01.

Area | Position on the Route | Zones Named So Far |
|---|---|---|
Kanto Region | Where the journey begins | Ogouchi Buffer Zone, Ogouchi Colony, Ancient Civilization Zone |
Mountainous Region | The longest stretch by zone count | The Great Wall Terraces, Pilgrim's Zone, Matsukawa Zone, Fuji Frontier Zone |
Drowned Region | More compact than the second area | Giant Tree Zone |
Wasteland Region | The threshold before the endgame, marked by the Wall of the World | Crater Zone, the river zone, Starfall Tower Zone |
The endgame stretch and the destination | Mount Hiei Zone, Capital Zone |

Zone | Area | Notable Content |
|---|---|---|
Ogouchi Buffer Zone | Kanto Region | The opening zone, Subcity 01 through 03, the coloured keys, and the Rangifer fights |
Ancient Civilization Zone | Kanto Region | Flooded ruins, an underground reservoir, and the Lacerta fights |
The Great Wall Terraces | Mountainous Region | The first Shidou and Nue encounter and the heaviest shrine concentration in the game |
Pilgrim's Zone | Mountainous Region | The Belfry, the Cave, and the Stone Chamber, plus the first two Taurus fights |
Matsukawa Zone | Mountainous Region | The Rangifer rematch |
Fuji Frontier Zone | Mountainous Region | The Nue Malefact rematch and the second Shidou and Nue fight |
Giant Tree Zone | Drowned Region | Vertical, platform-heavy terrain and both Corvus fights |
Crater Zone | Wasteland Region | The Taurus rematch and the first Kunai and Kirin fight |
The river zone | Wasteland Region | The Crimson Malefact fight. Its name is written as both Inumaki River Zone and Inukami River Zone |
Starfall Tower Zone | Wasteland Region | The Ursa fight |
Mount Hiei Zone | The final Shidou and Nue fight | |
Capital Zone | Erymanth, the last Kunai and Kirin fight, and the final encounter |

Whether an area can be revisited after the ship leaves it has been described inconsistently, so the safe assumption is that it cannot. Clear the collectible categories, pick up the seedlings and manuals, and open the strongboxes before triggering the next departure. Koo makes this practical: he picks up the scent of nearby points of interest and marks them, and Keeper Golems mark specific finds on request.
The version 1.0.8 patch shortened the main route through Pilgrim's Zone so it runs directly to the Belfry, bypassing the Cave and Stone Chamber. Those sections are still there to explore, they are simply no longer on the critical path. The version 1.0.9 patch on August 24 changed two more zones. The boss battle in The Great Wall Terraces became an event battle, so the game now stages that encounter rather than leaving it as a fight walked into, and elite enemies that had failed to spawn in the Fuji Frontier Zone appear as intended again. Both zone names come straight from the official patch notes, which is also where the Japanese names are given.
Two patches changed what is physically in a zone rather than how it is routed. Version 1.0.10 on August 28, 2026 placed Blight Sprouts that yield Skill Points into every zone in the game, and breakable Amber nodes into a selection of them. Version 1.0.11 on September 8 added more sprouts and moved some of the Amber nodes. A zone swept before the end of August therefore has finds in it now that were not there on the first pass, and a completion count written before then is short by two categories.
The same two patches also fixed a run of geometry problems. An invisible wall on the entry slope in Subcity 02 had been blocking the route deeper inside; invisible collision barriers were appearing inside Nushi arenas under specific conditions; water submersion hitboxes were set too shallow in places; and terrain where the visible geometry did not line up with the invisible wall was corrected in both updates. The developer lists further submersion and collision work as still queued, so this is ongoing rather than finished.
One save-affecting problem was specific to a zone. Players who lost their first boss attempt in The Great Wall Terraces before the August 28 patch could not progress on a rematch even after meeting the victory conditions, a consequence of that fight becoming an event battle in the previous update. The patch cleared the blocked state.
World and Setting covers the fiction behind the map, The Capital describes the destination, and Colonies and Blighted Forests cover the two kinds of place the route crosses between.
