Overview
Every ship hull in Windrose shares the same equipment loadout grammar at the Wharf: a Cannon Slot (main and secondary batteries), a Hull Slot (bracing), a Naval Tactics Slot, and a Crew Slot for boarding-party equipment. The cannon and hull-bracing options are identical across every hull once the caliber and slot count fit; only the number of slots and the compatible calibers differ per hull.
This article is the canonical reference for the Cannon Slot and Hull Slot options. Individual ship articles (such as Ketch, Brig, and Frigate) list how many slots that hull carries and which calibers fit, then link back here for the per-variant effect text.
Cannon Variants
Each caliber (12, 24, and 36-pounders) has a baseline crafted at the Shipwright's Workshop without a plan paper, plus three ascendable modifier lines: Devastating, Perfectly Ordered, and Tempered. The Rare-tier effect is preserved on ascension to Epic and a second effect is added on top.
Cannon | Rare Effect | Epic Adds |
|---|---|---|
12-Pounders | Baseline naval gun; no modifier line. Crafted at a Shipwright's Workshop without a plan paper. | — |
12-Pounders: Devastating | Hitting a target with more than 50% of a volley applies Raked for 25s; all Damage dealt to affected targets increased by 10%, stacks up to 3. | Reload speed +15%. |
12-Pounders: Perfectly Ordered | After reloading, hitting an enemy within 4s increases reload speed by 30% for 22s. | Aiming speed +30%. |
12-Pounders: Tempered | After reloading, waiting 6s before firing increases the next volley's Damage by 40%. | Hitting a Weak Spot deals +20% bonus Damage. |

Hull Bracing Variants
Every hull accepts one of four bracing variants in its Hull Slot. Iron Resolve, Keelhold, and Standfast are Rare-tier options crafted from plan papers; the baseline bracing is free.
Hull Bracing | Effect |
|---|---|
Hull Bracing | Standard timber bracing for baseline ship survivability. |
Fortified hull: higher raw HP under combat. | |
Taking damage no longer affects repair-kit duration. | |
Improvised hull: trades raw HP for cheap material cost. |
Caliber Compatibility by Hull
Not every ship hull mounts every caliber. Ketches and Brigs carry a single main battery only; Frigates add a dedicated secondary battery. Below is a quick reference showing which calibers each hull accepts.
Hull | Main Battery | Secondary Battery |
|---|---|---|
12 lbs (3 guns) | — | |
