Cannonballs is a Military Decorations piece in Windrose, a placeable decoration that displays a neat stack of iron shot. It is purely ornamental: it sits on a Floor piece, raises a room's comfort rating, and cannot be loaded or fired. It is not the ship round used in naval combat. For the functional projectile a ship's Cannons fire, see Ammunition.

Placement and Decorating
The stack rests on any Floor piece, so it works on a deck, a balcony, or the corner of a study rather than on a wall.
Pair it with an Ornamental Cannon for a battery scene. The cannon is also decorative and cannot be fired.
It reads as a naval prop, so it suits a deck, a dockside warehouse, an armory corner, or a captain's study more than a bedroom or galley.
Like every decoration, the Comfort +1 from the Military category does not stack: a second Cannonballs stack (or any other Military piece) only changes the look, it does not add more comfort. See Military Decorations for the rest of the set, including the numbered Wall Weapon Racks and Ornamental Sabers.
Comfort is a base-wide rating built up from the decorations you place, and it is what makes a home feel lived in rather than bare. Because the Military bonus is capped at a single contribution, the practical role of the Cannonballs stack is theming: it lets you build a believable gun deck or trophy room without each extra piece feeling wasted. Pair it with Trophies and Flagpoles and Banners for a fuller martial display. The full decoration system, including how comfort is totalled, is covered on the Decorations page.
Decorative Stack vs Ship Ammunition
Windrose uses the word cannonball in two unrelated places, which is easy to confuse:
Item | What It Is | Where It Lives |
|---|---|---|
Cannonballs (this page) | A decoration that displays a pile of shot for comfort | |
Standard cannon round | The default projectile fired in ship combat, aimed at the hull | |
Chain shot | The alternate ship round that targets sails and slows the target |
During a sea fight you select rounds at the cannon and aim at the enemy hull; that system is covered on the Cannons and Ammunition pages. This decoration plays no part in that, it simply dresses up a room.
How to Unlock and Build
The recipe is taught by the plan Decoration: Cannon and Cannonballs. Once learned, build it from the following materials:
Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|

x10 |
The same plan also unlocks the matching Ornamental Cannon, so a single unlock covers the whole battery display.
