Flour is a base cooking ingredient in Starsand Island, processed from Wheat at either the Separator or the Grinder. It is the single most-used processed ingredient in the entire cooking system, appearing in 26 of the game's 110 recipes. Flour is required for noodles, dumplings, pastries, cookies, cakes, and several other dish categories spread across the Campfire, Gas Stove, and Oven stations.
Because Flour appears in so many recipes, a steady supply of Wheat and reliable access to a processing station are both essential for cooking progression. Running out of Flour is one of the most common bottlenecks players encounter, especially when tackling high-tier recipes like Black Forest Cake, Cheesecake, and Tiramisu, each of which requires 8 Flour per batch.
Flour is one of eight base cooking ingredients produced through processing stations. The others are Sugar, Vegetable Juice, Fruit Pulp, Protein Powder, Meat Bites, Fish Fillet, and Fine Salt. Unlike most of these ingredients, Flour has only one possible raw input: Wheat. No other crop or material can be used as a substitute.

Flour is produced by processing Wheat at one of two stations. The conversion ratio is 1:1 for both: one Wheat produces exactly one Flour. Since each Wheat harvest yields 4 Wheat, a single harvest gives you 4 Flour.
The Separator is the main station most players use throughout the entire game. It processes Wheat into Flour instantly with no waiting time. This makes it uniquely efficient compared to every other processing station, which all require real in-game time.
The Separator blueprint comes free in the Equipment Blueprint Pack from the cash register at Zerine's General Store. Pick it up as soon as you start the game. Building the Separator requires only 3 Stone, 3 Softwood, and 5 Fiber, all of which are trivial to gather in the first few minutes of gameplay.

The Grinder is a second station that can also convert Wheat into Flour. It unlocks at the Senior Farmer tier through the Farmer profession progression at the Happiness Seed Shop. Unlike the Separator, the Grinder takes a short amount of real in-game time per processing cycle.
The Grinder is primarily used for its other outputs: Rice Flour (from Rice), Ground Coffee (from Coffee Beans), Spice Powder (from Spices), and Golden Feed Mix (from Mixed Grains). Since the Separator is faster and available much earlier, most players continue using the Separator for Flour production even after unlocking the Grinder.

Wheat is the sole input for Flour production, and it is one of the most accessible crops in the game. Wheat is a Starter-tier crop that grows in all four seasons, meaning it never goes out of rotation. Seeds cost 50 Coins from the Happiness Seed Shop and are available from the very start of the game with no Farmer certification required.

Wheat is a single-harvest crop, so you need to replant after each pick. To maintain a continuous supply of Flour, keep at least 8 to 12 Wheat plots running at all times. High-Flour recipes like Black Forest Cake, Cheesecake, and Tiramisu each need 8 Flour, so a single harvest of 4 Wheat only covers half a batch.
Growth can be accelerated with fertilizers. Ripening Fertilizer I (Apprentice Farmer, 15 Coins per 5 bags) advances growth by 8 hours. Ripening Fertilizer III (Intermediate Farmer) advances by 25 hours, which instantly completes a Wheat crop. Placing Bumblebee hives near your Wheat plots and using sprinklers for automatic watering makes Wheat farming almost entirely passive.
At the Senior Farmer tier, Everlasting Seeds become obtainable through the Eternal Blessings skill. Everlasting Wheat Seeds let you harvest Wheat indefinitely without replanting, eliminating the 50 Coin seed cost entirely and making long-term Flour production much more efficient.
Flour appears in 26 of the game's 110 cooking recipes, making it the most-used base cooking ingredient. The following tables list every recipe that requires Flour, organized by cooking station. Many of these dishes sell for far more than raw Wheat, making cooking the best way to profit from your Wheat harvest.
The Campfire and Gas Stove share the same recipe pool. The Gas Stove is an upgraded version unlocked through the Crafter profession. All 21 Flour recipes below can be cooked on either station.

Flour sits in the middle of a multi-step production chain. Understanding the full pipeline from seed to finished dish helps with planning.
Buy Seeds: Purchase Wheat Seeds from the Happiness Seed Shop for 50 Coins per bag.
Plant and Grow: Till farmland, plant the seed, and water it. Wheat takes 18 hours to mature and produces 4 Wheat per harvest.
Process into Flour: Place Wheat into the Separator (instant) or Grinder (timed). Each Wheat produces 1 Flour.
Cook a Recipe: Use Flour with other ingredients at the Campfire, Gas Stove, or Oven to produce a finished dish.
Sell or Consume: Eat the dish for stamina recovery and buffs, or sell it for significantly more than the raw Wheat value.
Example chain: 50 Coins (Wheat Seed) -> 18 hours -> 4 Wheat -> 4 Flour -> 1x Plain Noodles (44g sell, +39 stamina). For high-value chains: 100 Coins (2x Wheat Seeds) -> 8 Wheat -> 8 Flour -> 1x Tiramisu (434g sell, +143 stamina).
Flour itself is a processed intermediate ingredient. Selling raw Wheat at Zerine's General Store earns 16 Coins per unit (64 Coins for a full harvest of 4). Converting Wheat into Flour and then cooking it into dishes multiplies the value dramatically.
The following examples show the profit multiplication from processing Wheat into Flour-based dishes:
Path | Input | Output Value | Profit Multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|
Sell Raw Wheat | 4 Wheat | 64g (16g each) | 1x (baseline) |
4 Flour | 44g | 0.7x (lower, but +39 stamina) | |
Lotus Pastry x2 | 4 Flour | 350g (175g each) | 5.5x |
4 Flour + extras | 374g | 5.8x | |
8 Flour + extras | 434g | 3.4x per 8 Wheat | |
4 Flour + extras | 438g | 6.8x |
Selling raw Wheat or uncooked Flour is never recommended. Even the simplest Flour recipe, Lotus Pastry (just 2 Flour, no other ingredients), sells for 175 Coins per batch. That is nearly 5.5 times the value of 2 raw Wheat. For maximum profit, cook Flour into high-tier dishes and sell them, ideally to the Merchant Ship for an additional 200% sell price bonus.
Build the Separator immediately. The blueprint is free from the Equipment Blueprint Pack at Zerine's General Store. The materials (3 Stone, 3 Softwood, 5 Fiber) are trivial. You should have a Separator on your first day.
Grow Wheat from Day 1. Even before you build a Separator, stockpiling Wheat means you will have Flour ready the moment you place one. Wheat is all-season and only takes 18 hours to grow.
Keep 8 to 12 Wheat plots running at all times. High-Flour recipes like Black Forest Cake, Cheesecake, and Tiramisu each need 8 Flour per batch. A single harvest only gives 4 Flour, so you need at least two harvests for one batch of these top-tier dishes.
Build multiple Separators. Although each conversion is instant, having two or three Separators side by side means you can process Wheat, Sugarcane, meat, fish, and vegetables without switching between them constantly.
Stockpile at least 30 to 50 Flour. Experienced players recommend maintaining a reserve at all times. This ensures you never run short when a recipe requires large quantities.
Lotus Pastry is the simplest Flour recipe. It requires only 2 Flour with no other ingredients and sells for 175 Coins. If you have excess Flour and nothing else to cook, Lotus Pastry is a fast and easy way to convert surplus into gold.
For pure profit from Flour, focus on Sweet and Sour Pork (438g), Black Forest Cake (434g), Cheesecake (434g), or Tiramisu (434g). These high-value dishes multiply the value of your Wheat many times over.
Flour is not needed for Juicer drinks. The two Wheat-based Juicer recipes (Goldspike Blend and Suncloud Sip) use 12 raw Wheat each, not Flour. Do not accidentally process Wheat you intended for these drinks.
Place the Separator near your cooking station and ingredient storage. Group the Separator, Campfire or Gas Stove, and Oven together for an efficient kitchen layout that minimizes travel time.
Sell Flour-based dishes to the Merchant Ship for 200% of the normal sell price. A Tiramisu that normally sells for 434 Coins becomes 868 Coins at the Merchant Ship.
