Overview
Outbound's farming and cooking systems provide a self-sustaining food source. Players grow crops in garden beds on the camper van, harvest them, and cook meals at workstations. Cooked food restores significantly more hunger and health than eating raw ingredients.
Crops
Confirmed crops that can be gathered and farmed:
Berries Found on bushes throughout all biomes. Used in Jam.
Carrots Found at farm locations like Sunbeam Acres. An early food source.
Tomatoes Used to make Tomato Sauce at the Food Processor.
Herbs Found in the wild. Key ingredient for Herbal Tea, which restores health.
Grain Harvested from wheat fields. Used in Bread and Pizza recipes.
Amber Morel A mushroom found in shaded forest areas. Used in Mushroom Soup.
Indigo Cap A mushroom found in similar conditions to Amber Morel. Also used in Mushroom Soup.
Petals Found in greenhouses at landmarks. A crafting ingredient.
Farming mechanics
Garden beds are building modules placed on the van or at a campsite. Players must unlock both the garden plot and a watering can as separate blueprints. Seeds and spores come from wild plants found across the biomes. Once planted, crops grow over time and are harvested when ready.
Cooking
Three workstations handle cooking:
Cooking Pot Liquid recipes. Herbal Tea (1 Water + 2 Herbs) restores 22 Health. Mushroom Soup (1 Water + 2 mushrooms) restores 22 Health and replenishes hunger.
Baking Oven Baked goods. Bread (2 Grain + 1 Water) restores 22 Hunger. Pizza (2 Grain + 1 Water + 1 Tomato Sauce) restores 32 Hunger and is the best early-game hunger food.
Food Processor Processed ingredients. Jam (2 Berries) and Tomato Sauce (2 Tomatoes) each restore 22 Hunger. Tomato Sauce also doubles as a Pizza ingredient.
Integration
Crop waste can be fed into the Bio Burner for energy. Some crops are used as crafting ingredients beyond their food value. Advanced farming blueprints are unlocked through Signal Towers.
