Outbound is scheduled for release in Q2 2026 (first half of 2026). A free demo is available on Steam (version 1.0.0.5, approximately 3 hours of content) with a "Very Positive" rating from players.

Physical distribution is handled by Tesura Games in partnership with Silver Lining Interactive. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will be a full cartridge release. All physical editions include the School Bus Adventures DLC.
Pricing
The digital game is priced at $24.99 USD / EUR 24.99 / GBP 19.99 with a 10% launch discount. An Outbound Soundtrack DLC has also been announced.
Physical editions
Physical standard editions are available for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. A Collector's Edition is also available, which includes a road map, acrylic standee, hanging charm, four enamel pins, two fabric patches, six postcards, and a collector's box.

Features
The game supports 17 languages (English, German, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and more). Steam features include Achievements, Cloud Saves, and Family Sharing. Online co-op supports up to four players.

Over 3,400 Kickstarter backers have been testing both single-player and multiplayer modes during the beta. The game has surpassed 1.1 million Steam wishlists, placing it in the top 50 most-wishlisted games on Steam. Over 50,000 players tried the free demo during Steam Next Fest.
Developer and publisher
Outbound is developed by Square Glade Games, a studio based in Groningen, Netherlands, founded in 2022 by Tobi and Marc. Their previous game, Above Snakes, sold over 60,000 copies in its first six months. Physical distribution and console porting are handled by Silver Lining Interactive (formerly Merge Games), headquartered in Cheshire, England.
