Overview
Beyond crafting, building, and exploration, Outbound includes a selection of leisure activities. Many of these were funded as Kickstarter stretch goals and reflect the game's cozy identity. They exist for relaxation and atmosphere rather than as progression requirements.
Fishing
Fishing is accessible near water bodies in all biomes. Different water sources contain different fish species. Caught fish can be used in cooking recipes. This was one of the Kickstarter stretch goals.
Beekeeping
Beekeeping is a colony-management activity. Players catch bees in the wild and keep them in beehives. Healthy colonies produce honey for cooking and crafting. This was also a Kickstarter stretch goal.
Kite flying
Players craft and fly kites in open areas. The game's wind system affects kite behavior. Weather conditions change how the kite handles. This was the "Cozy Kites" stretch goal and has no direct gameplay benefit beyond relaxation.
Camping
When the van is parked, players can set up bonfires, outdoor seating, lanterns, and other decorations. Camping setups create atmosphere at rest points and provide gathering spots in multiplayer sessions. Camping was the second Kickstarter stretch goal unlocked.
Vehicle maintenance
Tire inflation and other van maintenance tasks function as light interactive activities. They keep the camper van in working order while providing a tactile change of pace from exploration.
