Achievement Guide
September 7, 2026 at 02:23 AM
Removed pre-launch guesswork contradicted by the shipped 32-achievement roster and refreshed unlock rates

Outbound supports Steam Achievements, confirmed on its Steam store page. The shipped build carries 32 total achievements across PC and the four console platforms, live everywhere since the May 14 PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 release. The full roster is public: 20 entries publish their unlock text, and the other 12 are hidden, meaning the condition stays sealed until the achievement pops. This guide lists all 32 with the requirements that are published, groups them by the system they touch, and offers tips for players working toward the full set.
Because Outbound is a cozyvival game with no combat, the set revolves around exploration, crafting, building, farming, cooking and collecting rather than combat or competitive milestones. Nothing in it is skill-gated and nothing is missable, since the open world lets a player return to any region at any point in a save.
The 11 hidden entries that no official note has documented are listed here by name only. Their conditions will be filled in as they are confirmed in play rather than guessed at.
All 32 achievements are listed below, ordered from most to least commonly earned. The rate column is the share of owners who had the achievement as of early September 2026 and moves slowly as more players work through the game. The Version 1.1 fishing update added no achievements, so this list has been stable since launch and is identical on every platform.

Ferry Poppins | Hidden achievement. The unlock text is not shown publicly. | 13.3% |
Up the Mountains | Hidden achievement. The unlock text is not shown publicly. | 12.2% |
The Festival | Hidden achievement. The unlock text is not shown publicly. | 10.1% |
Meet the Devs! | Hidden achievement. The unlock text is not shown publicly. | 9.8% |
Certified Researcher | Hidden on the public list. The 1.0.8 notes documented it as researching at the research stations across the map, and corrected it to include the stations in the fourth dome. | 7.9% |
Decked Out | Craft all available vehicle upgrades. | 7.7% |
Below Snakes, Apparently | Hidden achievement. The unlock text is not shown publicly. | 6.2% |
Shine Your Light On Me | Light all campfires. | 4.6% |
Top-Tier Threads | Craft the best available pants and clothing upgrades. | 3.6% |
Snapped 'Em All | Collect all Cap 'n Snap blueprints. | 3.3% |
Camper Van Gogh | Collect every Painting. | 2.9% |
Party Animal | Hidden achievement. The unlock text is not shown publicly. | 2.5% |
Over-cooked! | Cook all food recipes at least once. | 2.3% |
Cairnivore | Stack up every Cairn. | 2.2% |
Up | Have at least 10 Efficient Wind Turbines attached to your vehicle. | 2.2% |
Gnome Sweet Gnome | Collect every Gnome. | 2.0% |
Fashionista | Use the clothing cabinet to change into clothing with all different colors. | 1.7% |
Don't Break the Camel's Back | Build the maximum weight on top of your vehicle. | 1.6% |
Chromatic Confusion | Paint your vehicle 10 times. | 1.2% |
The rarity spread shows where players stop. More than eight in ten reach the Fire Lookout Tower and clear the opening steps in The Outdoors. Around a third recycle a hundred pieces of litter or adopt the dog. The numbers then fall away sharply at the full-collection achievements: every Gnome, every Cairn, every Painting and the complete Cap 'n Snap blueprint set all sit at or below 3.3 percent of owners. Painting the vehicle ten separate times is the rarest entry in the game.
One entry that circulated before launch did not survive it. A Packrat achievement, requiring 150 filled inventory grid slots in the van, was found in the data files of the February 2026 demo but is not among the shipped 32. Any list that still includes it is describing the demo, not the released game.
Sorting the same 32 into bands is a quick way to see how much of the set comes free with a normal playthrough and how much has to be gone after deliberately. The counts below use the same early-September 2026 figures.
Tier | Unlock Rate | Count | What It Means |
|---|---|---|---|
Earned by most players | Above 30% | 7 | Opening progression, the dog, the recycler, and the first two biome steps |
Common | 10% to 30% | 8 | Mid-game progression, the balloon ride, the gear puzzle, 100 bottle caps, 30 crops |
Uncommon | 5% to 10% | 5 | Late-game progression plus the first of the craft-everything entries |
Rare | Below 5% | 12 | Full collection sweeps, every recipe cooked, and the vehicle and wardrobe completion sets |
The split is telling: 20 of the 32 are held by more than one owner in twenty, and the remaining 12 are almost all completion sweeps. Nothing in the set is skill-gated, nothing is missable, and no achievement is tied to a difficulty option, because the game has none. What separates a partial run from a full one is patience with the map, not execution.
The categories below group the shipped list by the system each achievement touches. Where a system carries no achievements at all, that is stated plainly, because knowing which systems are not on the checklist saves as much time as knowing which are. Hidden entries are filed by what their names refer to, which is a sorting decision rather than a claim about how they unlock.
Outbound's world spans four distinct biomes connected by a seamless open map with no loading screens. Exploration is one of the game's three core pillars, alongside building and crafting, and it carries more achievements than any other system in the game.
Twelve achievements sit here, and they are the ones most players earn first. Two Forks Memories comes from exploring the Fire Lookout tower and Start Your Journey from the opening steps in The Outdoors; between them they are the two most commonly held achievements in the game. Up, up and away! is earned by taking a ride on the Hot Air Balloon, and Master of Gear by solving the gear puzzle.
Eight more in this group are hidden: Round 'n Round, To the Coast, Into the Canyons, Up the Mountains, Ferry Poppins, The Festival, Meet the Devs! and Party Animal. A ninth, Below Snakes, Apparently, takes its name from the studio's earlier game. Their unlock rates track the shape of a normal playthrough, thinning out as the biomes get further from the start, which is the pattern you would expect from progression markers.
Signal towers are especially important because they unlock new blueprints for the technology tree. Visiting every signal tower is worth doing for the blueprints, but no achievement tracks it.
Three confirmed collectible types are tracked in the player's journal and visible on the map. Four of them carry a completion achievement, and those four are the rarest entries on the list.
Collectible | Description | Achievement |
|---|---|---|
Rock Cairns | Stone stack monuments hidden across all biomes | Cairnivore, for stacking up every Cairn |
Gnomes | Small figurines placed in hard-to-reach or hidden spots | Gnome Sweet Gnome, for collecting every Gnome |
Paintings | Framed artwork found across all four biomes | Camper Van Gogh, for collecting every Painting |
Campfires | Unlit fires placed around the world | Shine Your Light On Me, for lighting all campfires |
Bottle Caps | Collectible currency spent at vending machines | Ring-a-Ding-Ding!, for collecting at least 100 |
Cap 'n Snap Blueprints | Blueprints dispensed by the Cap 'n Snap machines | Snapped 'Em All, for collecting the full set |
Bobbleheads | Animal figurines bought from vending machines with bottle caps, displayed on the van's dashboard | None |
The journal tracks progress for each collectible type by region, so players can identify exactly which items they are missing. Bottle caps are a secondary collectible used as currency at vending machines. Collecting at least 100 of them unlocks Ring-a-Ding-Ding!; nothing tracks how many you spend.
There are also paint booths scattered throughout the world that unlock new van color options. Finding them all is not an achievement in itself, but they are what makes Chromatic Confusion possible, and that achievement, which asks for ten separate repaints, is the rarest in the game at a little over one percent of owners.
The crafting system and the modular building system are central to Outbound's gameplay loop. Crafting uses specialized workstations inside the van, while building lets players customize the van's interior, exterior walls, and rooftop.
Nine achievements cover the camper van and the workshop, and most of them ask for a completed set rather than a running total. Decked Out requires crafting every available vehicle upgrade. Top-Tier Threads asks for the best available pants and clothing upgrades, and Fashionista for using the clothing cabinet to wear an outfit in every colour. Up requires at least ten Efficient Wind Turbines attached to the vehicle at once, and Don't Break the Camel's Back requires loading the roof to the maximum weight it will take.
Recyclops belongs to this group in practice: recycling 100 pieces of litter through the recycling system happens on its own if the recycler goes up early, which is why roughly a third of owners hold it. Certified Researcher is hidden on the public list, but the 1.0.8 notes documented it as researching at the research stations across the map, and that patch corrected the achievement to include the stations in the fourth dome. Edison Approves is hidden and undocumented.
Outbound's farming system uses mobile garden beds attached to the van, so crops travel with the player. The cooking system transforms raw ingredients into meals that provide better nourishment. Together, these two systems form a self-sustaining food production loop.
Two achievements, and they sit at opposite ends of the difficulty spread. Green Thumb asks for sowing and harvesting at least 30 crops, which a working rooftop farming setup clears without any special effort. Over-cooked! asks for cooking every food recipe at least once, and at roughly two percent of owners it is one of the rarest on the list, because it means chasing down ingredients from every biome rather than settling into a couple of reliable meals.
Several leisure activities were funded as Kickstarter stretch goals. These include fishing (goal #4), beekeeping (goal #5), kite flying (goal #3), and camping (goal #2). None of the four carries an achievement in the shipped build, which is unusual for systems of this size and worth knowing before you plan a completion run around them.
Activity | Achievements |
|---|---|
Fishing | None. The Version 1.1 update shipped without any. |
Beekeeping | None |
Kite Flying | None |
Camping | None |
The mini-games and activities page covers all of these systems in detail. Players aiming for full completion should engage with each activity at least once early in their playthrough to start tracking progress.
The camper van is an electric vehicle with an odometer that tracks total distance traveled. Driving involves managing battery charge, monitoring motor heat, and navigating physics-based terrain. None of that is measured by an achievement.
No achievement tracks cumulative distance, so the odometer is a curiosity rather than a counter. Driving still matters for the set, but indirectly: it is how the map uncovers collectible locations, how the biomes open up, and how the vehicle upgrades that Decked Out asks for become worth crafting. The van-facing achievements are all in the crafting group above.
The dog companion was the seventh Kickstarter stretch goal. Players adopt a dog at the Paws & Whiskers Lodge, and the dog actively assists with gameplay by fetching items, alerting the player to nearby resources, and providing companionship during long drives.
Two achievements. Fur-Ever Friend covers adopting the dog companion at the Paws & Whiskers Lodge. Can you Pet the Dog? is hidden, and at roughly 35 percent of owners it is the most commonly held hidden achievement in the game, which suggests it is not asking for much beyond the obvious.
Outbound supports up to four players in online co-op. All players share the same van and work together to gather, build, craft, and explore.
There are no co-op or multiplayer achievements. All 32 are reachable in single-player, so nobody needs to find a group to finish the set, and nothing in multiplayer and co-op is gated behind a party size. Playing together still helps in practice, because a second pair of hands halves the time spent sweeping biomes for the collection achievements.
Nothing in the shipped list counts gathered resources or storage capacity. The one achievement that came close, Packrat, existed in the February 2026 demo's data files and asked for 150 filled inventory grid slots in the van, but it is not among the 32 that shipped. Storage and inventory work still pays off indirectly, since carrying capacity is what makes the long collection sweeps practical, but there is no milestone attached to it.
With the list settled, the strategies below are the efficient route to all 32. None of them are time-limited and none can be locked out.
Explore thoroughly from the start. Drive through every road and path in each region. The map reveals collectibles (cairns, gnomes, paint booths, blueprint stations) as you pass through areas. Covering the map early saves backtracking later.
Visit every signal tower. Signal towers unlock blueprints for the technology tree, and you need the full blueprint set before Decked Out and Top-Tier Threads are reachable.
Track collectibles by region. Use the journal and map filters to check which collectible types you have found in each region. Work biome by biome rather than hopping between areas to keep your progress organized.
Engage with every activity early. Try fishing, beekeeping, kite flying, and camping when you reach them. None of the four carries an achievement, so treat this as pacing advice rather than checklist work.
Grow every crop and cook every recipe. Plant a wide variety of seeds in your mobile garden beds and experiment with the recipes list. Green Thumb wants 30 sown and harvested crops, and Over-cooked! wants every food recipe cooked at least once.
Adopt the dog companion. Visit the Paws & Whiskers Lodge and adopt your dog as soon as you can reach it. Adopting it unlocks Fur-Ever Friend, and the hidden Can you Pet the Dog? follows almost immediately.
Save bottle caps for bobbleheads. Bottle caps are used at vending machines to purchase bobblehead collectibles. Bobbleheads carry no achievement, so spend freely once you have banked the 100 caps that Ring-a-Ding-Ding! asks for.
The bottleneck on a completion run is not difficulty, it is the four full-collection achievements. Everything else falls out of ordinary play; those four require sweeping each biome deliberately.
Outbound is an open-world game with four biomes, several collectible types, a technology tree, cooking recipes, farming and a set of leisure activities. Its 32 achievements split roughly into progression markers that arrive on their own, system-mastery entries that need one deliberate push each, and the collection sweeps that account for the rarest entries on the list.
For a focused completionist run:
A single thorough playthrough exploring all biomes, collecting all items, and engaging with every system should cover the majority of achievements
Nothing in the set is missable, because the open world lets players revisit any area at any point in a save
The lack of combat and permadeath means there are no difficulty-based achievements to worry about. Every entry in the set is earned through patient, thorough play rather than execution.
Outbound launched on PC and Xbox Series X|S on May 11, 2026 and on PS5, Switch, and Switch 2 on May 14, 2026. All 32 achievements were present at launch and none have been added since, including through the Version 1.1 fishing update. Twenty publish their unlock text; of the twelve hidden entries, only Certified Researcher has had its condition documented in an official patch note. The remaining eleven are listed by name here and will be filled in as they are confirmed in play.
