The Four Friends are the core allied group that forms around the Nameless Hero over the course of the campaign. Each member was originally aligned with a different part of the Valley of Mines, which means the group as a whole covers all three camps and the mages' circles.
Members
Diego. Old Camp shadow scout and the first friendly face the Hero meets inside the Barrier.
Milten. The youngest Fire Mage of the Old Camp's magical circle.
Gorn. Heavy-set warrior affiliated with the New Camp.
Lester. Brotherhood novice who acts as the Swamp Camp's outer diplomat.
Why They Matter
The Four Friends aren't just plot-important allies: they're how the game's three-camp structure stays coherent. Each friend is the Hero's entry point into their home faction, and the late-game's coordinated push against the Sleeper only comes together because all three camps have someone the Hero can rely on.

Why They Matter
The Four Friends aren't just plot-important allies: they're how the game's three-camp structure stays coherent. Each friend is the Hero's entry point into their home faction, so the Hero can move between camps without having to re-prove themselves from scratch in each one. Together the four cover every faction the Hero has to work with: Old Camp, Fire Mages, New Camp with Mercenaries, and Swamp Camp with the Brotherhood.
Late-Game Role
The late-game's coordinated push against the Sleeper only comes together because all three camps have someone the Hero can rely on. Each Friend pulls the Hero deeper into their own camp's contribution, and the decisive temple sequence assumes that the Hero has built a working relationship with every camp the Friends represent. See Chapters for the broader campaign structure.
