King Rhobar II
King Rhobar II is the ruler of the Kingdom of Myrtana at the time of Gothic 1 Remake. He is the king who ordered the mining of the Valley of Mines and who commissioned the twelve mages to raise the Barrier over it.
Why the Colony Exists
Rhobar II does not appear in person inside the Barrier, but his decisions define the world the Nameless Hero lives in. The war with the Orcs is going badly, Myrtana desperately needs magical ore, and the cleanest way to get that ore in volume is to throw every available convict into Khorinis and seal them in until they dig it out. The Colony, the Barrier, and even the ore trade run by Gomez ultimately exist because the king ordered it.
Off-Screen but Present
Rhobar's agents on the outside of the Barrier are the ones who buy the Old Camp's ore in exchange for food and wine. That trade is how news, luxuries, and sometimes people filter into the Colony, and it is a constant reminder inside the Barrier that the Crown is still out there, still waging its war, and still shaping the fates of everyone inside.
