Orry is an Old Camp Guard and one of the NPCs the player meets in the Nyras Prologue demo. He represents the typical Old Camp enforcer: armed, confident, and protective of the camp's prerogatives.
Orry's role in the demo is mostly atmospheric and combat flavour. He is a visible example of the Old Camp's hold on the Exchange Zone, and he is one of the NPCs the player can trip over by misstepping the unwritten rules of the camp. Sleeping or trespassing in the wrong spot near the Exchange Zone is enough to provoke him and his fellow guards.
As a Guard rather than a Shadow or a Templar, Orry sits in the middle of the Old Camp's combat hierarchy. Guards are the camp's general-purpose armed enforcers, in contrast to the Shadows who handle reconnaissance and the elite fighters who hold the inner castle. Orry's allegiance is to the Old Camp's leadership chain that runs up through the Ore Barons to Gomez. He represents the routine end of that chain rather than a senior decision-maker, which is why he shows up doing perimeter work rather than commanding the gate the way Thorus does.
