Mud is a character in Gothic 1 Remake, one of the Colony's inhabitants rather than a creature. The publisher's February 2026 release-date announcement listed "annoying Mud" among the details of the original game's atmosphere that the remake set out to bring back, alongside a scavenger's battle cry.

Stopping Mud from Following
Mud starts beside a hut near Snaf's cooking area. Facing the Old Camp castle gate, turn left toward the cauldron to find him. Exhaust his dialogue before fighting him if you want the Mud Freak achievement.
Knocking Mud unconscious stops him following you. An execution kills him permanently. If he survives through Flames to the Flood, Chapter 4 offers another option: speak to him at the Old Camp and escort him to the Orc Cemetery. Return after a few days to ask how he is settling in.
