Shadowbeasts

Shadowbeasts are large, quadrupedal predators in the Valley of Mines. They are one of the mid-to-late game wildlife threats the Hero has to deal with once he starts moving into the wilder parts of the Colony.

Role

Shadowbeasts are a threshold check on character progression. Unlike molerats or scavengers, a Shadowbeast cannot be brute-forced by a fresh Hero; it takes proper weapon skill, a good weapon, and a clean understanding of the parry window to bring one down. They are also skinnable for a valuable drop, which makes them a worthwhile farm target once the player can reliably beat them.
