How to Acquire
Rage is one of Oongka's default skills in the Spirit (Green) skill tree. It is available as soon as Oongka becomes playable and does not require any Abyss Artifacts to unlock.
Effect and Mechanics
When activated during Focus mode, Rage causes Oongka to enter a Super Armor state. While Super Armor is active, Oongka can absorb incoming attacks without being staggered or interrupted, allowing him to continue his offense unimpeded. This makes Rage an essential defensive tool that complements Oongka's aggressive, heavy-hitting playstyle.
The Super Armor granted by Rage does not make Oongka invulnerable; he still takes damage from incoming hits. However, the inability to be staggered means Oongka can trade blows with enemies and bosses while landing his high-damage attacks without interruption. Spirit regenerates while in Focus mode, so the resource cost is partially offset by careful Focus usage.
Rage costs 10 Spirit per activation. Since Spirit regenerates while in Focus mode (hold L3 + R3), you can quickly build up enough Spirit for multiple Rage activations in a single fight. The Super Armor state does not reduce incoming damage, so keep an eye on your health bar and disengage to heal if necessary.
Combat Strategy
Activate Rage before committing to high-commitment attacks like Rampage or Leaping Smash. The Super Armor prevents enemies from interrupting your wind-up animations.
Rage is particularly valuable during boss fights where the boss chains multiple fast attacks. Instead of dodging, Oongka can power through the hits and keep dealing damage.
Since Spirit regenerates in Focus mode, enter Focus to build up Spirit, then activate Rage when you have enough reserves for a sustained offensive push.
Pair Rage with Dual Wielding Mastery for a devastating combination: absorb incoming hits while dealing amplified damage with dual two-handed weapons.
Be mindful that Rage does not reduce damage taken. Against particularly dangerous enemies, you may still need to disengage and heal if your health gets too low during the Super Armor window.
Related Skills
Rampage: Oongka's forward charge attack, ideal to use while Rage's Super Armor is active.

Tips
Spirit regenerates while in Focus mode, so pair this skill with Focus for sustained use.

Super Armor Mechanic
Activating Rage puts Oongka into a super-armor state. While the buff is up, incoming hits still deal damage but no longer flinch him out of his own animations. This is what makes it safe to hold Raging Lightning through boss attacks or through crowds of smaller enemies: you trade HP for uninterrupted uptime on a very high damage-per-second channel.
Unleash Input
Rage is bound to the same Focus-mode input that Cliff uses for Unleash. Entering Focus, then pressing the Unleash input, triggers Rage for Oongka instead. This is the main reason builds pair Rage with the double two-handed whirlwind template: the super-armor window covers every point in the loop where the whirlwind would otherwise get interrupted.
