Overview
Raging Lightning is a melee combat skill in Crimson Desert, exclusive to Oongka. It belongs to the Stamina (Blue) branch of the skill tree. When activated, Oongka rapidly spins his body to slash all enemies within range, making it one of his strongest area-of-effect melee abilities. Raging Lightning is unlocked by default and serves as a cornerstone of Oongka's aggressive, mob-clearing combat style.

How Raging Lightning Works
Pressing R1 + X causes Oongka to spin his entire body in a rapid whirlwind slash that hits every enemy surrounding him. The attack covers a full 360-degree arc, damaging all targets within melee range. The spin animation is fast but commits Oongka to the attack for its duration, leaving a brief vulnerability window after the spin finishes.
At 30 Stamina per use, Raging Lightning is moderately expensive. However, its ability to hit every nearby enemy in a single action makes it Stamina-efficient when fighting three or more targets simultaneously, compared to attacking them one at a time.
Skill Progression
Investing Abyss Artifacts into Raging Lightning upgrades it to a more powerful version:
Level | Skill | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Lv. 1 | Raging Lightning | Rapidly spin to slash all enemies in range |
Lv. 2 | Increases movement distance during the spin, allowing you to cover more ground while attacking |
Raging Lightning Proficiency at Level 2 is a significant upgrade. The increased movement distance means Oongka travels forward during the spin, catching enemies that might otherwise be out of range and making the skill useful for closing gaps while dealing area damage.
Dual Wielding Synergy
Raging Lightning benefits from Oongka's Dual Wielding Mastery passive. While the damage bonus from equipping a greathammer in the offhand specifically lists Rampage and Spinning Slash as the affected skills, Raging Lightning also benefits from the raw damage increase of wielding two heavy weapons. The combined stat totals from both equipped weapons feed into the spin attack's damage calculation.
For maximum AoE damage output, build Oongka with Dual Wielding Mastery active and use Raging Lightning alongside Rampage and Spinning Slash in rotation. This creates a devastating mob-clearing cycle where every skill hits everything nearby.
Combat Tips
Raging Lightning is Oongka's best tool for clearing groups of weaker enemies. Use it whenever you are surrounded by three or more foes.
Upgrade to Raging Lightning Proficiency (Lv. 2) as soon as possible. The increased movement distance transforms it from a stationary spin into a mobile attack.
The 30 Stamina cost adds up quickly in extended fights. Keep an eye on your Stamina bar and alternate between Raging Lightning and lower-cost attacks to avoid running dry.
Raging Lightning leaves Oongka briefly vulnerable after the spin ends. In boss fights, use it only when you have a safe window, such as after a boss finishes a combo string.
Combine Raging Lightning with Leaping Smash for an effective engage-and-clear combo: Leaping Smash to close the distance, then Raging Lightning to hit everything nearby.
Against single targets like bosses, Raging Lightning is less efficient than focused single-target skills. Save it for add phases or crowd control situations.
In the Oongka Skills tree, Raging Lightning sits alongside other AoE options like Quaking Fury and Rampage. All three can be rotated for sustained crowd damage.

Dual Wielding Mastery
Raging Lightning is one of the two attacks that benefits from the Oongka Armed Combat node Dual Wielding Mastery. With only one two-handed weapon equipped the whirlwind is noticeably slower; with both two-handed slots filled and the node taken, the spin is markedly faster and tracks moving targets well enough that you can chase an enemy while channelling.
Whirlwind Build Context
Because the attack is stamina-hungry, builds that centre on Raging Lightning stack Stamina Siphon in the weapons and Stamina Regen abyss gears in the armour slots to reach the 30% stamina regeneration cap. Keeping Rage active while channelling grants super armour so hits cannot interrupt the spin, and Hounds Claws is a common optional proc gear since its trigger condition matches spinning slash.
