Overview
The Path of Trials is an Abyss puzzle located beyond the Frostbitten Paradise. Completing it unlocks the Frost Mantle skill and the Frost Level 1 Elemental Imbuement. The puzzle involves temperature management and thawing a frozen power piece in lava.
Location
Follow the progression: Spire of Ringing Truth, Ether Rest, Frostbitten Paradise, then Path of Trials. Continue along the path and wind vents after completing Frostbitten Paradise.
Step-by-Step Solution
Navigate to the north end of the frozen lake and light the stone lantern nearby for warmth. You take damage in extreme cold, so staying near heat sources is essential.
Look up and to the right (when facing north) and use Jump plus triple Force Palm (R3) to climb the stone wall and enter the chamber.
Head left from the entrance and proceed to the outdoor power mechanism.
Pull out the core from its slot using Axiom Force. Use the rotate function to pull it out (not push/pull). This deactivates a barrier.
Grab the frozen power piece from the chamber on the next platform.
Dunk the frozen power piece in lava to thaw it. You may need to drop it completely into the lava until it thaws and glows. Then return it to its slot.
Locate the circular platform above and use Force Palm on its center to restore the Abyss connection.
Tips
Light every stone lantern you find along the way. The cold drains your health quickly without a nearby heat source.
If the frozen piece is not thawing, make sure it is fully submerged in the lava pool. Holding it at the edge is not always sufficient.
