Patch 2.04.00
October 31, 2026 at 04:57 AM
Initial version (2026-10-31)
Patch 2.04.00 was released on October 29, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (15:00 PT, 18:00 ET and 23:00 CET, or October 30 at 07:00 KST and JST), together with the launch of Charting the Unknown, the paid expansion for Crimson Desert Enhanced. It follows Patch 2.03.02 of September 23, 2026. The notes cover two kinds of change: the expansion's new content, which needs the DLC, and a set of base-game additions and fixes under New Additions and Main Improvements, including a reworked NPC interaction menu with Chat and Gift options, barber shops in major cities, life-skill tools that work in combat, wagon equipment and larger item stacks. An all-platform hotfix followed on October 30, 2026 without changing the displayed version number.
The rollout table published with the patch listed five of the six distribution points as live on release day. The Mac App Store build was listed as coming later, and both follow-up notices of October 30, 2026 still showed it as in progress. Because of technical adjustments to the Mac build, players on Steam (Mac) and the Mac App Store need a one-time download of the full-size game package for this patch. See macOS Version for the rest of the Mac picture.
Platform | Status at Release |
|---|---|
Steam (PC) | Available |
Steam (Mac) | Available (one-time full game download) |
PlayStation | Available |
Xbox | Available |
Epic Games Store | Available |
Mac App Store | Later (in progress; one-time full game download) |
The expansion's launch notice separately said that Charting the Unknown is also available on the Mac App Store, bought from the Buy DLC menu on the title screen. Before launch, Pearl Abyss had said the DLC would not be on the Mac App Store at launch.
The notes warn that save files created while the DLC is installed cannot be loaded, or used for cross-save, in a game version that does not include the DLC. The official Known Issues list also warns that the game may crash if the base game and the DLC are on different versions, so both should be updated to the latest version. See Save System for how saves work.
Four sections of the notes describe the expansion itself. The summaries below follow the official notes; each topic has its own page, and the expansion overview is on the Charting the Unknown page.
New stories unfold across Pywel, framed around an ominous presence in the desert, a dangerous political conflict, a journey beyond time and an ancient secret beneath the waves.
Added one new individual quest each for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane.
The new quests are found in the Journal menu after completing Journey's End, the finale of the main story. See Epilogue: Journey's End Walkthrough.
Adventure extends beyond Pywel's shores: ships sail to new islands off the coast, and diving opens up underwater treasures, sunken ruins and hidden mysteries.
Added A Wider World, a new quest centred on the ocean. It begins after completing the main-story quest Howling Hill and expanding the Greymane Camp above a certain level.
Added a breath gauge that allows diving underwater. The higher your breath capacity, the longer you can stay underwater, and maximum breath capacity rises by refining your diving suit. See Diving.
Added food items that temporarily restore breath.
Added equipment that lets the A.T.A.G. operate underwater when equipped.
Added Ships as a new mount. Ships can be built through a dispatch mission or bought from fleetmasters located throughout Pywel, and customized with parts bought from fleetmasters in Demeniss and Delesyia.
Ships can be used for maritime Trading, and new trade goods were added for these trades.
Added various underwater mounts. Depending on their type, they are subdued or fed to raise their Trust, and once Trust is high enough they can be registered as mounts.
Added several uncharted islands that can be pioneered by taking on new missions.
Added multiple treasure maps that lead to hidden treasures scattered throughout the world. See Treasure Maps and Puzzles.
Added an expanded housing system. It becomes available after setting up the camp at Howling Hill and completing Luke's Request, one of the Greymane faction quests under Grounds of the Sunrise. Home Decoration > Layout > Free Construction lets you design your home's layout and place structural elements such as walls and windows yourself. See Personal Housing.
Added two castles that can be decorated: Drakesfall Castle, awarded after completing Journey's End and liberating the stronghold, and Flame Knight's Castle, awarded after completing Damiane's quest Politician and liberating the stronghold.
Strongholds owned by the Greymanes now appear in light blue on the map.
Added management content for liberated strongholds. A stronghold can be rented to run a restaurant, sawmill, smithy or tailor's shop, and a new Facilities tab on the map shows management information. Facilities keep operating while you are away, special guests may visit them, and completing management content grants rewards. See Management Facilities.
Added a mission for holding festivals at camp. NPCs whose trust has reached a certain level visit for a limited time, and interacting with them there builds trust faster. Certain visitors can be hired as Honorary Greymanes, who can be sent on dispatch missions like other comrades, though some features may be unavailable to them. See Camp Festivals.
Added an additional level of trust. Interact > Flirt raises it, Flirt followed by Gift or Chat keeps building it, and each type of interaction can raise it once per day. Once it reaches 100 you can propose. Flirting with an NPC as one playable character lowers that NPC's trust with the other playable characters, and some NPCs need special conditions; for witches, that means completing the witch's sanctum quest. See Romance and Marriage and NPC Trust System.
After marriage, your spouse's appearance can be changed at barber shops, their icon appears on the world map and minimap, you can travel together, and they may give you gifts from time to time. You can also break up with your spouse, but doing so comes at a cost.
Added a total of 17 residences, built through dispatch missions. Your spouse lives in the residence you designate, and the map shows which of Kliff, Oongka or Damiane owns each residence.
Added the minigame Banker's Dice, playable in Demeniss and Delesyia.
Added the combat content Garden of Trials, available after completing Journey's End, with a total of 10 groups to challenge. You can enter alone or with up to three characters (Kliff, Oongka and Damiane) and choose the order in which they fight. Food items cannot be used for recovery, the next character in order continues if one is defeated, and completing each group enhances one of your existing skills. It is located near the Axiom Archive in the Abyss.
Added new equipment, including armor, weapons, mount and pet equipment, Abyss Gear and more.
Added several powerful bosses, some of which can be rematched using Memory Fragments.
Added the Relic Collector NPC, who exchanges relics found through exploration for various items.
Apart from the save warning, these additions are general changes rather than expansion features.
Save files created while the DLC is installed cannot be loaded or used for cross-save in a game version that does not include the DLC.
Improved the NPC interaction UI. Chat and Gift are now available with NPCs, and ordinary interactions are performed through Interact.
Chat lets you share your Knowledge with NPCs to earn their trust. See Knowledge System.
Added new books that help you learn residents' preferences.
After an interaction that raises an NPC's trust, the wait time (cooldown) before the same interaction can raise trust again is now displayed.
Added a dedicated storage box for insects, making insects easier to manage and collect.
Added three new legendary insects and their sighting reports.
Added barber shops to major cities. The new barber shops can be used regardless of camp. See Barber Shop and Dyehouse.
Greymane outfits can now be changed at the Comrade Dispatch Tent, which costs camp resources.
Added life-skill tools that can be used in combat: the Frying Pan, Ladle, Frying Pan Lid, Jar Lid and Kitchen Knife.
Added new placeable objects for your house, including paths, trees, flowerbeds, cat watchtowers and puppy cushions. Cat watchtowers are sold by the newly added Cat Watchtower Merchant.
Wagons can now be fitted with equipment, and new wagon-exclusive equipment was added. See Skiffs and Wagons.
Added a new wainwright in the port area.
Increased the maximum stack size for items overall.
Fixed storing or withdrawing several non-stackable items at once moving only one item.
Fixed the wait option occasionally not appearing during the mission Talk to Grimnir.
Added more items that can be placed in the Collectibles Chest.
Fixed progress for the Bow Aimed at Fate V challenge not displaying correctly.

Reduced the startup time of Oongka's Scatter Shot and Damiane's Shield Toss.
Fixed some illusions failing to charge during the battle against the Forgotten General.
Trade routes now appear on the map at all times.
Increased the map's maximum zoom-out distance.
[Controller] Pressing L3 (the left stick) on the map now moves the focus to your summoned horse, wagon, ship or Blackstar.
Changed the Summoned icon for mounts and pets.
Added indicators that show the different places mounts and pets can be summoned: mid-air, land and underwater.
Map icon colors now change based on the region's status, as shown in the table below.
The range of fog cleared on the map now varies depending on the mount.
Region Status | Icon Color |
|---|---|
Blockaded | Red |
Reconstructing | Light red |
Incident | Yellow |
Uncharted | Grey |
Upscaling and Frame Generation can now be selected separately, so different technologies can be combined, for example DLSS upscaling with FSR Frame Generation. See Performance and Graphics Settings.
Fixed various localization errors and improved localization quality across all languages.
Reduced the spawn rate of Golden Apple Hedgehogs.
Changed the effect of the Efficiency Abyss Gear from an n% chance to reduce crafting materials by 1 to reducing the materials consumed when crafting by n%.
Fixed gloves clipping through the book when examining a book while wearing certain gloves.
Fixed corpses sent flying by a player's attack occasionally floating up into the sky.
Fixed the Runewalker Shield being shown as dyeable equipment.
Fixed frame drops when staying too long on the Ethereal Pathway.
Fixed the player being taken to prison on a wagon when arrested while riding it.
Fixed the camera shaking excessively in certain situations.
Fixed the Change Investment Strategy UI not appearing when first opening a Strongbox.
Fixed the activation method for some Abyss Gears not being applied correctly.
Pearl Abyss released an all-platform hotfix for 2.04.00 on October 30, 2026. It did not change the version number: the game still displays 2.04.00 after the hotfix is installed, but the fixes are applied, and Pearl Abyss said the version number will update correctly with future patches. Its rollout table matched the launch patch, with the Mac App Store build again listed as coming later.
Fixed certain Ascend skills not being applied correctly.
[Damiane] Fixed Shield Toss being usable repeatedly underwater.
Glowing Seeds can now be taken out during combat.
Fixed the camera distance changing after aiming the ship cannon.
Fixed the camera moving awkwardly when boarding a ship.
Fixed certain plants appearing to pass through housing.
Fixed housing item placement being misaligned when the monitor resolution differed from the in-game resolution.
Improved the quest Footsteps in Unfamiliar Lands so its mission can be started from the starting location.
Fixed Kliff respawning in an inaccessible area under certain conditions after dying in the desert.
2.04.00 follows the September 2026 2.03 series that began with Patch 2.03.00 and ended with the 2.03.02 hotfix. It was followed on October 30, 2026 by the hotfix above and by Patch 2.04.02, another all-platform hotfix released the same day. No version 2.04.01 appears in the official patch notes as of October 31, 2026. See Patch Notes for the full version history.
