New Content
Pond Construction
Patch 1.08.00 introduces the Pond as a new camp feature. The pond is a dedicated Greymane Camp expansion structure that opens up additional fishing and decorative options at the home base. The pond sits alongside the existing camp-improvement structures such as storage chests and crafting stations.
Baby Wyvern Pet
The Baby Wyvern is a new companion pet added in 1.08.00. Unlike the early-game pet system that focuses on stray dogs and cats with the trust-based taming flow, the Baby Wyvern is acquired through an egg collection and hatching mechanic. It is the first pet to use this acquisition path.
Kliff Firearm Access (Muskets and Shotguns)
Patch 1.08.00 extends Kliff's weapon roster to include muskets and shotguns. Before this patch the long-firearm slots on Kliff's loadout were limited to bows and crossbows in the ranged slot. Muskets and shotguns previously belonged to Damiane's and Oongka's loadouts. After 1.08.00, Kliff can equip these firearm categories in the same ranged slot and ammunition framework as before.
Tool Slot Equipment
A new tool equipment slot category ships with 1.08.00. The slot sits alongside the existing primary, utility, and ranged slots in the equipment screen and is intended for non-combat utility items used during exploration, gathering, and camp interaction.
20 Small Animal Pets
Twenty additional small-animal species are added to the pet roster in 1.08.00. They follow the existing miscellaneous-pet flow rather than the dog/cat trust loop or the Baby Wyvern hatching loop.
System Improvements
Refinement
Patch 1.08.00 ships refinement-system improvements that build on the Extraction feature added in Patch 1.06.00. The 1.06.00 extraction recovery rate for common materials was set at 70 percent; the 1.08.00 patch refines the overall refinement workflow without changing that headline recovery rate.
Fishing
Fishing mechanics receive improvements alongside the new pond feature. The pond construction option opens additional fishing locations at the camp, which complements the open-world fishing spots.
Chair Placement
Chair placement is refined as part of the home and camp decoration tooling that has been iterated on since Patch 1.04.00 added selectable house layouts and storage furniture.
Graphics
Raytraced Shadows
Patch 1.08.00 adds raytraced shadows as an optional graphics setting on supported hardware. This is a separate option from the patch 1.03.00 GPU support work that added Intel Arc compatibility and Intel XeSS 3.0 scaling. Players on capable GPUs can enable raytraced shadows from the graphics settings menu.
Bug Fixes
Patch 1.08.00 ships a broad set of fixes across UI, combat, and localization. The fixes follow the established post-1.04 cadence of stabilizing core systems while adding new content.
Position in the Patch Sequence
Patch 1.08.00 is the content update from May 22, 2026. It is followed by Patch 1.09.00 on May 29, 2026 and follows Patch 1.07.00 (May 15, 2026), which added five Boss Rematch bosses and the Damiane unarmed-combat skills. The April-to-June 2026 Developer Roadmap was completed with Patch 1.05.00; everything from 1.06.00 through 1.08.00 is post-roadmap content.

Verified Details from Official Patch Notes
The following specifics from the official Pearl Abyss patch notes for version 1.08.00 are captured here for reference.
Pond Locations
The first two pond locations available at launch of the feature are Howling Hill and Pailune Camp. Players can release fish directly into a pond or manage stock through the pond mode. Fish populations increase based on species-specific growth rates, and legendary fish placed in a pond are permanent and cannot be sold, used, or discarded.
Tool Slot Roster
The Tool Slot is a new equipment slot category that sits below the secondary weapon slot in the quickslot menu. The Quick Swap action toggles between the last drawn equipment. Tools that can be assigned to the slot include:
Tool | Use |
|---|---|
Logging Axes | Lumber gathering |
Mallets | Striking pegs, stakes, and crafting steps |
Shovels | Digging at marked sites |
Brooms | Sweeping interactions |
Scythes | Harvesting tall grasses and grain |
Pickaxes | Mining ore deposits |
Drills and Chainsaws | Heavy-duty gathering |
Fans | Air-flow interactions |
Damiane and Oongka Aerial Roll Equivalent
Patch 1.08.00 gives Damiane and Oongka a skill equivalent to the Focused Aerial Roll that Kliff has had since earlier patches, bringing aerial mobility parity to all three playable characters.
Fish Traps
Fish traps placed in the open world or at camp are now functional for catching fish without active reel-in. The pond feature complements this by giving collected fish a permanent home that can replenish over time.
Cooking Split: Griddle vs Pan-Fried
Griddle-cooked dishes and pan-fried dishes are now separated into distinct variants. Recipes that previously had a single combined entry will appear under whichever cooking surface the player used. This affects how cookbooks and recipe lists display per-station results.
Abyss Puzzle Improvement (Disconnected Truth)
The puzzle experience at the Disconnected Truth abyss is improved in 1.08.00. The change addresses player feedback on the puzzle's pacing and clarity.
Photo Mode Keybind
A keyboard shortcut (P) opens and closes Photo Mode. Players who had previously been opening Photo Mode through menus can now toggle directly. Secondary key assignment is enabled for all inputs.
Map Marker Improvements
The map marker system is improved to separate land markers from Abyss markers, so the world map and the Abyss map can be filtered independently. Inventory right-click functionality is also enhanced, and the Skills search adds a weapon filter.
Carrying Cats
Cats can now be taken (added to the pet collection) while the player is carrying them, removing the prior step of needing to put the cat down before initiating the take-in flow.
Graphics and Platform Specifics
On PC, raytraced Sun and Moon light shadows are added as an optional graphics setting on supported hardware. GPU load optimization for 4K and higher resolutions is improved. DLSS and XeSS frame-rate display issues are fixed. On compatible Mac devices, Metal4 is the new default API.
Challenge Adjustment
The completion requirement for the Shield of Unchanging Will VI challenge is adjusted to accommodate Damiane's shield charge mechanics, which previously made the challenge harder to complete cleanly with that character.
Bug Fix Volume
The patch ships over 50 bug fixes spanning character control during boss fights, skill execution edge cases, animation and visual glitches, NPC spawning and interaction bugs, and UI freezing and display errors.
Wild Wyvern Riding and Future Mounts
Wild wyverns can now be temporarily used as mounts after being subdued in the open world, letting players ride one for a short time before it breaks free. This is separate from the new Baby Wyvern pet, which is registered through the egg collection and hatching path. The official notes state that the Baby Wyvern will be able to grow and be registered as a flying mount in a future update, so the pet is the early-game form of a creature that later becomes a permanent mount.
Infinite Arrows for Bullets and Cannonballs
The Infinite Arrows Abyss gear is improved so that it now also supplies bullets and cannonballs, not just arrows. This pairs with Kliff gaining access to muskets and shotguns in the same patch, since a steady supply of firearm and cannon ammunition makes the related combat challenges and their achievements faster to clear.
Iron Eagle Mercury Trust Increase
The Trust gained by feeding mercury ore to the Iron Eagle legendary bird is raised from 5 to 15 per piece. This cuts the amount of mercury needed to summon and register the Iron Eagle, since fewer feedings now reach the 100 Trust threshold. See the Pets page for the full legendary bird taming flow.
Lonely Jackals Rename
The enemy creature previously called one-eyed jackals is renamed to lonely jackals. This is a naming change only and does not alter the creature's behavior or where it appears.
