Overview
The Baby Wyvern is a companion pet in Crimson Desert introduced in Patch 1.08.00 on May 21, 2026. Unlike the early-game pets that follow the trust-based taming flow used for stray dogs and cats, the Baby Wyvern is acquired through an egg collection and hatching mechanic. It is the first pet in Crimson Desert to use this acquisition path.

The Baby Wyvern is a companion pet rather than a rideable mount. It is distinct from the adult Wyvern entries in the rideable Exotic Creatures category.
Acquisition
The Baby Wyvern is obtained by collecting a wyvern egg in the open world and hatching it. The hatching step requires the player to bring the egg back to camp and place it in the appropriate camp facility. Once hatched, the Baby Wyvern is registered as a pet and follows the player on travels, looting items from defeated enemies during combat in the same way as other registered pets.
Patch Context
Patch 1.08.00 also added the Pond camp expansion, tool slot equipment, musket and shotgun access for Kliff, and 20 additional small-animal pet species. The Baby Wyvern is positioned as a flagship pet for the 1.08.00 patch and uses an entirely new acquisition flow that future pets may also adopt.
Behavior
As a registered pet, the Baby Wyvern follows standard pet behavior. It accompanies the player, automatically loots dropped items from defeated enemies during combat, and accepts cosmetic gear from the dedicated pet equipment store at the Pororin pet hub. Only one pet can be actively summoned at a time, so the Baby Wyvern competes with other registered pets for the active slot.
