Overview
The Lightning Spear is an Uncommon-grade two-handed spear in Crimson Desert. While modest in its base form with 6 Attack, this spear is notable because it can be upgraded into the significantly more powerful Kuku Lightning Spear at the Kilnden Workshop, making it an important stepping stone for spear-focused builds.
The base Lightning Spear is easy to obtain from the Black Wall Bandit Camp north of Pailune. Players who pick it up early should hold onto it rather than selling, as the upgraded Kuku version becomes one of the strongest lightning weapons in the game.

How to Obtain
The Lightning Spear is found at the Black Wall Bandit Camp, located north of Pailune. Travel to the camp (look for it above the 'E' on the world map in the Pailune area). Head toward the back of the camp and find the weapon rack. The Lightning Spear is sitting on the rack, ready to be picked up.
There are no enemies to defeat or puzzles to solve. Simply walk up to the weapon rack and take the spear.
More specifically, the Black Wall Bandit Camp is located below the Windsong Peaks in northern Pailune. Clear all the bandits in the camp to access the weapon rack where the Lightning Spear sits.
Upgrade Path
The Lightning Spear can be upgraded into the Kuku Lightning Spear at Grimnir's Kuku Pot workshop at the Kilnden Workshop. The upgrade transforms this basic weapon into a fully refinable spear with much higher endgame potential.
The Kuku Lightning Spear reaches 35 Attack at maximum refinement with Attack Speed Lv.1 and Movement Speed Lv.2. Unlike the base form, the upgraded version can be refined at a Blacksmith and accepts Abyss Gear, making it scale into the late game.

Kuku Pot (Enhanced)

Small Batteries
Electrical Components
How to Craft
The Lightning Spear can be crafted via a dispatch mission after unlocking the Electric Tool Design Research at Due Haven. This research is located in the 2nd row of Due Haven's research tree.
Once the research is complete, the Lightning Spear production dispatch mission becomes available at the Steel Spike Armory. You can craft as many Lightning Spears as needed through repeated dispatch missions, making this the primary way to obtain replacements if your original Lightning Spear was accidentally destroyed or lost.
Crafting a Permanent Version
To create a permanent (Cuckoo) version of the Lightning Spear, take the crafted spear to a workshop and combine it with small batteries, electrical components, and cog wheels. The permanent version can then be refined to higher stages, significantly improving its stats and durability. This is a worthwhile investment for players who plan to use the Lightning Spear as a long-term part of their loadout.
Replacing a Destroyed Lightning Spear
If you accidentally destroyed your Lightning Spear (for example, by salvaging it or using it as upgrade material), the crafting dispatch mission at the Steel Spike Armory is the way to get a replacement. Unlock the Electric Tool Design Research at Due Haven if you have not already, then run the dispatch mission to receive a new Lightning Spear. There is no limit on the number of times you can run this dispatch.
Full Crafting Chain
The complete upgrade chain from base Lightning Spear to Cuckoo Lightning Spear follows these steps:
Craft a Cuckoo Spear using the Cuckoo Pot and small batteries.
Combine the Cuckoo Spear with the Lightning Spear, batteries, and 2 electrical components to create the Cuckoo Lightning Spear.
Obtaining Electrical Components
Electrical components are obtained by killing the large robots found in Delesia. These robots are stationed at a location blockaded by a hall. Electricity-based attacks are very efficient against them, so consider bringing a lightning weapon or lightning skills to speed up the farming process.
Recipe Unlock Requirement
The Cuckoo Lightning Spear recipe is not available from the start. You must complete the witch quests (clearing sanctums) to unlock it at the Kilnden Workshop. The Cuckoo Lightning Spear is classified as a refinable weapon, but note that Abyss Cores cannot be applied to it.
Combat Tips
The base Lightning Spear is weak and should be upgraded as soon as possible. Do not invest refinement materials into the base version.
Spears excel at maintaining distance from enemies. Use thrust attacks to poke from outside their melee range.
The Electro-Mecha Spear offers higher immediate power (30 Attack) but cannot be refined. For long-term investment, the Kuku Lightning Spear is the better choice.
As a two-handed weapon, this spear prevents the use of off-hand equipment like shields.

Palune Bandit Camp Retrieval
Video walkthroughs place a free-pickup Lightning Spear at a bandit camp near the top of the Palune region, north of Hernand. The weapon is one of three elemental spears scattered around Palune, the other two being the Flame Spear and the Bismuth Spear.
Route
Travel to the top edge of Palune just past Hernand on the world map.
Locate the bandit camp marked at that position. You can fight through the garrison for experience or sprint past the patrols to the weapon.
The spear is propped up against a structure inside the camp. Grab it from the interaction prompt.
Durability Caveat
The lootable version carries a durability bar of 50/50 and there is no confirmed repair method. Many players stash it in the vault rather than using it against real targets until a repair mechanic is discovered. Elemental spears of this family discharge their affinity on hit (the lightning version applies a shock), so they still punch above their weight in brief encounters.
