Obtaining the Core of Mortification
The Core of Mortification is awarded for cleansing a specific sanctum during Chapter 9 of the main story. Because it is tied to a main-story beat rather than a repeatable activity, this is a one-per-character drop. Missing the cleanse in Chapter 9 means you cannot pick the core up again later.
Crafting Use
The core is a required crafting material for the Kuku Gardening Pack. Because the pack is one of the most useful quality-of-life items in the game for gathering, hang onto the core the moment it drops rather than selling or dumping it. Pair it with a Kuku Pup, a Peddler's Pack, five Abyss Cells, and an Ore of Recepissance to complete the craft at the Kiln Den Workshop.

How To Obtain
The Core of Mortification is the reward for the optional dial puzzle at the Sanctum of Mortification. After the sanctum is cleansed, use the Blinding Flash skill to complete the dial puzzle. Once the puzzle succeeds, Kliff must climb or grapple up to reach the released Core and store it in the Kuku Pot.
Crafting Use
The core is one of the components required to craft the Kuku Plant Gatherer's Pack at the Kilnden Workshop. Other ingredients in the same recipe include a Kuku Pack, a Power Core: Ore of Resipiscence, and three Abyss Cells.
