Main Quests are the story-progression questline in Windrose. They lead the player from the shipwreck prologue through survival tutorials, ship repair, naval combat, the Coastal Jungle boss route, and the Foothills boss route toward the Forgotten Relics artifact chain. The in-game quest log tags each of the seven launch-build main quests with an internal id (Islander, Rescue of Prisoners, I Need a Bigger Boat, Seafarer, Revenge, Lost Cargo, Forgotten Relic) even though the displayed title is often the narrative name. The main questline gates both faction access and major crafting tiers, so finishing it is the cleanest route through the current build.
The seven tracked main quests in Windrose version 0.10.0 are listed below in their natural play order. "Recommended Gear" reflects the community-reported gear tier that smooths out combat and naval encounters; the quests can technically be attempted earlier with correct buffs and positioning.
Quest | Quest Giver | Region | Gear Tier | Summary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Tutorial | Opening survival tutorial. Build a Bonfire, Workbench, and Cooking Fire, craft a Stone Axe and Stone Pickaxe, defeat two boars, build the Armor and Clothing Workshop, and smelt the first Copper Ingot. | |||
Starting island chain | Copper | Free seven captured sailors from Pirate Camps across nearby islands. The rescued crew is required to repair the ship in the next tutorial quest. | ||
Second island | Copper to Iron | Locate three shipwrecks, identify the one repairable central wreck, and deliver 100 Wood, 20 Nails, 20 Coarse Fabric, and 10 Rope to repair it into a seaworthy vessel. | ||
Starting island waters | Copper to Iron | Naval combat tutorial. Build the Shipwright's Workshop, craft 12-Pounder Cannons, build a Wharf and Ketch, then engage Blackbeard's Transport Ship with cannon volleys and a boarding action. | ||
3 to 5 | First major boss quest. Hunt Thomas Richards through a hand-crafted Coastal Jungle dungeon; completes the Seafarer naval-combat handoff into true story progression. | |||
6 to 10 | Hunt Israel Hands inside a sealed ancient temple. Collect three Ritual Keys from Hands's lieutenants, break the seal, win the boss fight, claim Charon's Obol, and rescue John the Cartographer. | |||
- | Swamps | 5+ | Work with John Doe to decipher Senkamati tablets, recover an Enchanted Ritual Dagger, and track the Priestess's resting place to claim a second Charon's Obol. Ends on a 'To be continued' cliffhanger. |
Islander Quest: base setup, tool crafting, first armor, copper pipeline.

Revenge Is Best Served Cold: first hand-crafted dungeon, first named boss, Coastal Jungle transition.
Needle in a Haystack: three-key lieutenant hunt, Foothills tier gate, John the Cartographer rescue.
Forgotten Relics: Swamps biome introduction, Senkamati tablet translation system, second Charon's Obol.
