Bellows is an upgrade extender that snaps to a Weaponsmith Workshop. Placing it inside the base station's extender footprint unlocks the recipes gated behind this extender on the base station's own craft list. It does not craft items on its own; the base station handles all recipes.
The Bellows is a late-game Weaponsmith Workshop extender gated behind Cursed Swamps progression. Its Mire Metal Ingot cost comes from the Large Smelting Furnace (2 Ancient Scraps + 1 Quagmire Powder per ingot), its Crocodile Hide Piece from Cursed Swamps crocodiles, and its Hewn Stone from raw Stone processed at the Workbench. Together these gate the Bellows behind a full Cursed Swamps resource pipeline.
Once placed, the Bellows unlocks the high-heat forging recipes on the base Weaponsmith Workshop. That typically means the tempered and reliable variant lines: Reliable Musket, Reliable Pistol, Reliable Blunderbuss, and the Tempered cannon tier when shared across to the Shipwright's Workshop. The Bellows does not unlock weapons on its own, and it has no craft menu: it is strictly an extender that widens the base station's craft list.
Placement rule is the same as every other extender: the Bellows must sit inside the Weaponsmith Workshop's footprint radius. Snap it flush against the base station when possible; placing it just outside the radius will look correct visually but fail to register. The Bellows does not share an extender slot with the Anvil, Water Barrel, or any other Blacksmith extender; all of them can be placed simultaneously around the Weaponsmith Workshop.
Attach the Bellows after the Anvil. The Bellows unlocks tempered and tier-2 weapon upgrades that depend on recipes the Anvil exposes first.
Elastic Leather is the chokepoint material. Stockpile Rough Hide from boars and crocodiles, then run a batch at the Tanning Rack before starting the Bellows.
Pair the Bellows with a nearby Smelting Furnace and Large Smelting Furnace so ingot production keeps pace with weapon upgrade demand.
Dismantling the Bellows at the Disassembly Table refunds all construction materials at 100%, so relocating it between camps is risk-free.
The Bellows does not require a roof on its own; it inherits the Weaponsmith Workshop's roof requirement by being attached to it.
The Bellows is one of several extenders that snap to the Weaponsmith Workshop. They can all be placed at once around the base station; each one widens the workshop's craft list rather than crafting on its own.
Extender | Role |
|---|---|
Bellows | High-heat forging for tempered and reliable weapon variants and ship fittings |
Exposes the base weapon-upgrade recipes the Bellows builds on | |
Quenching support for the blacksmith line | |
Adds material-gated recipes that draw on Elastic Leather and ingots | |
Leather footwear and related gear recipes |
Build order matters: attach the Anvil first so its recipes are available, then add the Bellows to open the tempered tier on top of them.
