Overview
Basements and Foundations is the ground-level support pieces that raise a building above uneven terrain or water. Windrose offers 7 basement and foundation pieces, including the Pier piece that anchors shoreline construction.
Foundation Pieces
Piece | Cost | Max HP | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Foundation (Sticks) | Plant Fiber x2 | 1,500 | Cheapest foundation; Tier 1 starter. |
Foundation (Logs) | Wood x3 | 2,000 | Log-tier foundation for early shelters. |
Foundation (Stone) | Stone x2 | 2,500 | Stone foundation; plan: Marble, Plaster, and Tile (Base set). |
Block (Stone) | Stone x2 | 2,500 | Solid stone block for a basement wall or platform. |
Pier | Wood x1 | 1,500 | Shoreline piling used to extend flooring over water; see dedicated Piers page. |
When to Use Foundations
Foundations are placed under Floor pieces to raise a building off the terrain. This matters in three cases:
First, on uneven terrain: a Foundation block can level the ground so your floor sits flat. Second, along shorelines: a Pier piece plus Foundation blocks lets you extend a building over water. Third, for basement construction: stacking Foundation pieces creates a sub-floor space for storage or hidden rooms.
Basement Layout
The Basement sub-group combines Foundation pieces with Block (Stone) walls to create a below-floor storage area. Build the perimeter with Block (Stone), cap with a Floor, and add an access hatch (a single Floor removed) or an interior staircase descent.
Tips
Foundation (Sticks) has twice the Max Health of a Wall (Sticks), which makes it the strongest piece available at Tier 1.
Stack multiple Foundation (Stone) pieces to lift your building up a cliff edge. Each tier stacks without collision issues.
Basements are a good hidden-storage strategy for PvP-enabled zones. Place a removable Floor over the basement entrance so raiders cannot see the hatch.
For waterside construction use Pier (from this category) as the primary support. It is the only piece that can extend over water.
Foundation pieces are considered interior for station requirements. A Merchant placed on a Foundation + Floor combo still passes the Roof check as long as a roof is above.
