This page indexes the creatures confirmed in the Subnautica 2 Early Access build. The roster is grouped the way the game's own databank groups it, by class rather than by threat level, and it grows with each content update, so treat this as a snapshot of what is currently in the build rather than a final list.
Subnautica 2 ships with no weapons. Nothing on this page can be killed by the player as a matter of routine, and hostile creatures are handled with evasion, light, distraction, and the deterrent tools instead. See No-Weapons Philosophy for the design reasoning and Creature AI and Behavior Trees for how the creatures decide what to do.
Leviathans
Leviathan class is the game's size classification for organisms large enough to be a threat to a diver and a vehicle at once. They have their own overview at Leviathan-Class Organisms.
Leviathan | Notes |
|---|---|
Hunts by tracking and pursuit, and searches an area before giving up | |
Ambush predator; the databank rates it as sophisticated and dangerous | |
Large predator recorded in the Early Access build | |
Deep-water leviathan associated with egg clutches |
Fauna Roster

The table below lists the smaller lifeforms recorded in the current build, with the class the databank assigns them, the region they are commonly found in, and whether they behave passively or turn on a diver. Names that link out have their own page.

Bloom Organisms
Infected organisms are tracked separately from the healthy fauna because they behave differently and are tied to The Blight. The one a player meets most often is the Bloom Parasite, which Early Access 1.1 reworked into the primary encounter creature for infested areas.
Scanning and BioMods
Creatures are not just obstacles. Recording a species for the first time with the Bioscanner unlocks that species' BioMod where one exists, and counts toward opening further passive BioMod slots at a Bio Lab. Repeat scans of a species already on record do not count. Genetic material taken with the Biosampler feeds the separate Adaptations system, which changes the diver permanently.
