The Sandspear is a small, aggressive ambush predator in Subnautica 2. It buries itself in the seabed and waits with only its mouthparts and a plant-like lure exposed, then strikes and grabs a diver who swims too close. Getting caught triggers a grab sequence similar to those used by the game's larger predators.

Appearance
The body is a light purple cone with two fins at the tail end arranged like the fletching of an arrow. Six black legs point downward, and the flatter front face carries bone-colored plating with purple markings. The mouthparts are elaborate, with multiple mandibles and a tongue-like appendage that extends a surprising distance to latch onto prey.
Behavior
Free-swimming Sandspears drift slowly along cave floors and open seabed, and attack when approached. Buried individuals are harder to spot: the giveaway is a thin tendril sticking out of the sand. A burrowed Sandspear startles when hit with light and will swim away a short distance, which makes a Flashlight a practical sweeping tool in murky terrain.
Survival Tips
Keep your distance while scanning; the grab attack has a short trigger range around the buried lure.
A projectile from the Sonic Resonator or Feedback Resonator repels both buried and free-swimming Sandspears and forces them to relocate.
Scanning the Sandspear and the Electric Geordie together unlocks the Bioluminescence biomod, a body light source useful in caves and at night.
