Dichotomy Beta
August 6, 2026 at 04:33 PM
Initial version (2026-08-06)
The Dichotomy Beta Test is the second closed beta for Silver Palace, following the Monotype Beta that ran in January 2026. It opened on 23 July 2026 at 02:00 UTC and runs until 13 August 2026 at 02:00 UTC. Like the first test it is a Windows PC build only, restricted to players aged 18 and over, with no in-game purchases and a full data wipe at the end.
The test is substantially larger than the first. It adds a male protagonist option alongside the existing female Detective, expands the playable roster, opens districts of Silvernia that were closed off in the first test, and rebuilds the combat system around parries and executions.
Milestone | Date |
|---|---|
Recruitment opens | 26 June 2026 |
Recruitment closes | 16 July 2026, 15:59 UTC |
Access distributed | 20 July 2026 |
Test begins | 23 July 2026, 02:00 UTC |
Test ends | 13 August 2026, 02:00 UTC |
Players who took part in the first closed beta were automatically eligible for this one. Everyone else applied through a recruitment survey on the game's official site, with additional access handed out through official social channels and a livestream drops campaign. Selected testers could verify eligibility and pre-download the client ahead of the start time.
The test is limited to participants aged 18 and over.
Access is bound to the first device used to log in. Signing in from a second machine revokes testing privileges.
Eligibility applies to this test only and does not carry forward to future ones.
Transferring or selling the test client or a test account results in immediate revocation.
The build is explicitly described as under development and not representative of the final release.
The published specifications for the test build:
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
Operating system | Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 21H2 or higher | Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 21H2 or higher |
Processor | Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X |
Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT |
Video memory | 6 GB | 8 GB or higher |
System memory | 12 GB | 16 GB or higher |
Storage | 65 GB SSD, plus 25 GB free during extraction | 65 GB SSD, plus 25 GB free during extraction |
The storage requirement is a notable jump from the first test, which asked for 60 GB. The minimum tier is also new: the first test published recommended specifications only.
The headline addition is a male Detective, giving players a choice of protagonist for the first time. The test's name refers to that split.
The playable character roster grows well beyond the first test's seven. Characters confirmed in this build include Red Rose, Gratia, Rex, Bentham, Grimm, Gucia and Captain Kaboom, alongside returning faces such as Ashley, Cynthia II, Lorin, Firtho, Argos and Alf.
The additions also give first playable carriers to two character classes that had none in the first test, Outlaw and Saviour, and to the Alba element.
A new case format called Curious Deductions debuts with The Resurrection Enigma, built around a scholar's death, a secluded manor and an ancient legend. Unlike the first test's linear cases, Curious Deductions support multiple endings: the investigation you assemble on the Evidence Board determines which conclusion you reach, and a Restart Deduction option rolls that progress back so you can pursue a different one. Uncovering the true solution unlocks a collectable and an achievement.
Combat was rebuilt for this test. Parries, executions, synchronised character swaps, a weakened state after executions and a simplified Casual Mode all arrive here, together with a set of enemies making their first appearance. The details are covered on Combat System and Character Switching.
The test layers ongoing city progression on top of the story. Reputation is the main account-wide progression track, Commissions organise the quest types, and City Roaming supplies the daily objective list. Character Trust levels, gift-giving, per-quarter exploration progress and property purchases all feed into them.
Event | What it does |
|---|---|
Fortnight of Deduction | A 14-day login track awarding the 4-star Bentham, the 5-star Red Rose, a 5-star Motive, and pull currency. |
Login Event | A 21-day login track awarding currency for the limited-time banners featuring Ashley and a 5-star Motive. |
Assistant Appointment | Story milestones unlock assistants, including Lorin and Firtho. |
A Tale of Growth | Reputation Level milestones at 5, 15, 25, 35 and 45 award pull currency. |
City Wanderer's Guide | Objectives covering exploration progress, character Trust, gifts, property and incident variety. |
Trial Challenges | One-off challenge runs for Ashley, Gratia, Rex and Cynthia II award Reactor Crystals and Ounces. |
Survey Event | Completing the in-test surveys guarantees an invitation to the third beta test. |
A third closed beta is confirmed by implication rather than by date: testers who complete both in-game experience surveys and one in-depth survey are told they will be automatically invited when it begins. No date, and no launch date, has been announced. See Platforms and Release for the current release picture.
