Overview
Commissions is the umbrella term for the quest categories in Silver Palace. Rather than a single quest log split by main and side content, the game sorts work by what kind of story it tells and who it involves, which suits a game where the Detective is nominally taking jobs from the city rather than following a chain of objectives.
Commission Types
Type | Description |
|---|---|
Major Cases | The critical path. Major Cases follow the Detective's own story from their arrival in Silvernia onward, and are structured into Acts and Scenes. |
Curious Cases | Standalone mysteries built to be solved more than once. They can resolve to several different outcomes depending on the deductions you commit to. |
Private Requests | Character-focused stories tied to one member of the cast. |
City Errands | Smaller stories drawn from around Silvernia and its residents. |
Advancement Test | A progression gate rather than a story. It unlocks at Reputation Level milestones and raises Crisis Level by one when cleared. |
Business Expansion | Commercial work connected to the property and investment side of the game. |
Incidents | Commissions attached to exploration objectives rather than to a storyline. |
Major Cases
Major Cases are numbered by Act and Scene. The second closed beta's early milestones include Act I, Scene I, titled The Return, and Act II, Scene III, titled All Becomes Clear, each of which unlocks an assistant when completed. The first closed beta's Chapter 1 cases, covered on Monotype Beta, sat in the same slot before the structure was renamed.
Curious Cases
Curious Cases are the multiple-ending format. The investigation system lets you commit to a chain of deductions, reach a conclusion, then reset the Evidence Board and try a different reading of the same evidence. Only one conclusion is the true one, and finding it awards a collectable and an achievement.
The developers have since named the format directly, calling Curious Deductions a deduction quest gameplay mode designed around multiple branching endings, and committed to producing more content of the same kind. That moves it from a one-off experiment in a single test to a standing category the game intends to keep filling.
Business Expansion
Business Expansion commissions are the commercial strand, and they are picked up rather than pushed: the Civic Commissions Board is a physical fixture in the city where the Detective accepts posted work. One documented example starts in Riverside on Morgue Street, where the Detective takes a bounty writ from the board and completes it for 50 Reactor Crystals and 2,000 Ounces. The framing is deliberate: the Detective remembers the spot from three years earlier, before the absence that opens the story, so the board doubles as a piece of characterisation.
Bounties
Bounty work runs through a writ rather than through the commission list directly. The Detective takes a Bounty Writ from the board, which opens a City Errand naming the target and giving the background on them, and the reward for the bounty itself lands when the target is dealt with rather than when the errand is accepted.
The chain documented from the second closed beta ran against a bounty target called the Vanquisher, a former MISS butler and a firearms specialist who had run out of opponents worth fighting. It was posted by another former member of the same organisation, a retired butler who had been press-ganged into serving as a practice target and wanted someone to take his place. Completing it paid in Glory Coin and Ounces. Both the reward shapes and the figures come from that test build.
Rewards
Completing Commissions is one of the main sources of Reputation, which drives account-wide progression, and Commission completions also feed the daily objective list in City Roaming.
