Overview
Ashley is an NPC in Silver Palace who serves as a young assistant to the Detective during the Monotype Beta storyline. She is recommended for the post by Lorin, Chief Inspector of the River Constabulary, after the Detective returns to Silvernia and re-establishes a working office.
Role
Ashley is positioned as a household assistant rather than a combat companion. She manages day-to-day affairs at the Detective's residence and office, including reading and writing correspondence, preparing tea, and keeping the workspace in order. Her contributions to investigations come from intelligence gathering, paperwork organisation, and dialogue support during interviews, in contrast to the more combat-oriented MISS Maid No. 49, Alf.
She presents as quietly competent and observant. The narrative foregrounds her sharpness during interactions: she keeps up with the Detective's deductive pacing, picks up on small details in dialogue, and helps frame questions during interrogations. The contrast between her humble presentation and her capability is consistent with the wider cast pattern in Silvernia, where appearances often conceal sharper realities.
Relationship to MISS
Ashley is recommended through Constabulary channels rather than dispatched directly by MISS. She works alongside the Detective's MISS-assigned maid, Alf, and the two cover complementary needs: Alf for combat support and rough-and-ready muscle, Ashley for clerical work and personal assistance. The Maid Institute, Society, and Services and the Constabulary both feed personnel into the Detective's orbit, with Ashley sitting on the Constabulary side of that partnership.
Combat involvement
Ashley is currently NPC-only and was not playable during the Monotype Beta. She does not appear in the gacha banners, the Crystal Exchange catalogue, or the sign-in event roster. Whether she will be promoted to a playable character in a future test or at full launch has not been officially announced.
Story significance
Ashley appears throughout the early cases of Chapter 1 ("Burnt to Cinders") as a recurring presence at the Detective's office. Beta players speculated about a possible deeper identity given her resemblance to fairy-tale archetypes that recur in the cast, but no in-build text confirms any alternate identity. Treat such links as community speculation rather than confirmed lore until a future build addresses them.
Open questions
Several aspects of Ashley's background were not resolved during the Monotype Beta: how she came to Lorin's attention before the recommendation, how her family circumstances are characterised in later cases, and whether she gains expanded narrative agency in chapters beyond the first arc. These threads are likely to be picked up in subsequent beta rounds or at launch.
