Registering Pokemon in the Pokedex unlocks milestone rewards throughout your journey in Pokemon Pokopia. There are 38 milestones in total, each granting a new crafting recipe. Rewards are given at intervals of every 5 Pokemon from 6 to 100, then every 10 Pokemon from 110 to 270, with final milestones at 290 and 300. The final reward at 300 registered Pokemon is the Neo Dowsing Machine recipe, which leads to the hidden Developer Room in Sparkling Skylands and a printable Diploma.
Unlike many other Pokemon games, Pokopia does not require you to catch Pokemon in battles. Pokemon are registered in the Pokedex when they are successfully befriended and join your settlement. You befriend Pokemon by discovering their preferred habitat in the Habitat Dex and building it with the right materials, furniture, and environmental conditions.
As you register new Pokemon in the Pokedex, milestone notifications appear automatically when you reach specific totals. Each milestone grants a crafting recipe that is permanently added to your Workbench menu. The base Pokedex contains 300 Pokemon spanning all nine generations. A separate Event Pokedex tracks limited-time event Pokemon (such as Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff), but these do not count toward the main 300 milestone total.

You can check your current Pokedex registration count at any time by opening the Pokedex from the menu. The total registered count is displayed at the top of the screen.
The recipes unlocked through Pokedex milestones fall into several categories. Understanding these categories can help you plan which milestones to prioritize as you progress through the game.
Functional Storage: The Storage Box (6 Pokemon) and Big Storage Box (30 Pokemon) are among the earliest and most useful rewards. They provide essential inventory space for holding materials and crafting components.
Flooring and Wall Decor: Several milestones unlock tiling, flooring, and wall decoration recipes like Stone Tiling, Grass Flooring, Stylish Tiling, Striped Wall, and Vine Wall Decoration. These are used in house customization and can contribute to Comfort Levels.
Furniture: The majority of milestone rewards are furniture recipes including chairs, tables, cabinets, and decorative pieces. Items like the Chic Chair, Stylish Stool, Side Table, and Dining Cabinet can be placed inside buildings to increase Comfort Levels for resident Pokemon.
Structural Items: Recipes for structural pieces like the Puffy-tree Pillar, Wooden Partition, Wooden Posts, and Rope allow for more creative building designs and layout options.
Specialty Items: Some unique rewards include the Hot-Spring Spout (90 Pokemon), which can create warm habitats for specific Pokemon, and the Weather Vane (180 Pokemon), a distinctive outdoor decoration.
The following table lists every Pokedex milestone and the crafting recipe it unlocks. The Event Pokedex does not count toward these milestones; only the 300 base Pokedex Pokemon contribute to your registration total.

The Neo Dowsing Machine is the ultimate Pokedex completion reward, unlocked by registering all 300 Pokemon. It is distinct from the regular Dowsing Machine, which is obtained early in the game from Hitmonchan's request "Check What's Up There" in the Withered Wasteland. The Neo Dowsing Machine is a crafted item used specifically in Sparkling Skylands to locate a hidden scanner on the northwestern island.
After crafting the Neo Dowsing Machine, Professor Tangrowth recommends you take it to the Sparkling Skylands. Bring a Pokemon with the Search specialty to the northwestern island and use the Neo Dowsing Machine to dig up a buried scanner. Scanning your complete Pokedex at a gate on the island unlocks the Developer Room.
The Developer Room is a hidden area in Sparkling Skylands unlocked through the Neo Dowsing Machine. It is an homage to the Celadon City developer room from the original Generation 1 Pokemon games, referencing Game Freak's office in the Celadon Condominiums. This is a separate location from Developer Island, which is accessed through Mysterious Goggles at any Pokemon Center PC.
Inside the Developer Room, you find three exclusive crafting recipes:
Recipe | Description |
|---|---|
Printer | A device that lets you scan your Pokedex and print a Diploma, which can be displayed as a decorative item. |
Shutter | A decorative window covering recipe for building customization. |
Card Reader | A decorative electronic device recipe. |
After crafting the Printer using the recipe from the Developer Room, you can scan your complete Pokedex to print a Diploma. The Diploma is an in-game decorative item that can be placed on any wall or surface in your buildings. It serves as proof of completing the entire base Pokedex of 300 Pokemon.
Early milestone rewards like the Storage Box (7 Pokemon) and Big Storage Box (30 Pokemon) are essential for material management. Prioritize reaching these milestones early to avoid running out of inventory space.
The Hot-Spring Spout recipe at 90 Pokemon is useful for creating warm habitats that attract certain Fire-type and Ground-type Pokemon. Plan your befriending order to unlock this before tackling heat-loving species.
Many later rewards are decorative furniture recipes. These can be placed inside houses to increase Comfort Levels for resident Pokemon, which in turn makes those Pokemon happier and more productive.
Check each Pokemon's Habitat Dex entry for the specific habitat, items, and environmental conditions needed to befriend it. Some habitats require milestone recipes from this list, so you may need to befriend Pokemon in a specific order.
Event Pokemon (Hoppip line, etc.) tracked in the separate Event Pokedex do not count toward the 300 total needed for the Neo Dowsing Machine.
The Developer Room in Sparkling Skylands is different from Developer Island. The Developer Room requires full Pokedex completion; Developer Island is accessed via Mysterious Goggles with the code PXQC G03S.
Some of the hardest Pokemon to register are weather-dependent or time-exclusive. Rain-only Pokemon like Goomy require a Rain Dance Site, while certain Pokemon only appear at night (7 PM to 6 AM).
If you are stuck at a particular milestone, try exploring new islands or biomes you have not visited yet. Each island tends to have a cluster of unique Pokemon that are not available elsewhere.
The gap between the 270 and 290 milestones (no reward at 280) means the last stretch of Pokedex completion offers fewer recipe incentives. Focus on befriending the remaining Pokemon for the Neo Dowsing Machine at 300 rather than targeting a specific number.
