Espers in Neverness to Everness live and operate across the various districts of Hethereau, the sprawling city where the game takes place. Hethereau is a neon-heavy urban setting where reality-warping anomalies are part of daily life. Each district has its own atmosphere, faction presence, and challenges.
District | Description |
|---|---|
Bridge Crossing | Home to the Coluccis family and the Eibon Antique Shop; a gritty neighborhood with strong local identity |
New Hethereau | The modern downtown core with skyscrapers and commercial districts |
Tamamochi Street | A vibrant shopping and entertainment area |
Hankaku Street | Located in the Bridge Crossing area |
Jenson's home district and factional affiliations have not been disclosed. Characters in the game are tied to locations through their backstories. Some work for organizations like the Bureau of Anomaly Control, others operate out of the Eibon Antique Shop, and some are independent. Key factions and groups include:
Bureau of Anomaly Control: The government organization tasked with containing supernatural threats. Houses multiple Esper Task Divisions (ETDs).
Eibon Antique Shop: Run by Nanally in Bridge Crossing. Members include Hotori, Adler, Daffodill, and Edgar.
Sterry Express: A delivery service operating across Hethereau. Members include Jiuyuan, Haniel, and Hathor.
Once revealed, Jenson will be assigned one of the six Esper elements: Cosmos, Anima, Incantation, Chaos, Psyche, or Lakshana. The game's Esper Cycle system creates powerful elemental reactions when adjacent elements on the wheel are chained together. Players build teams of up to four Espers, swapping between them in real-time combat to trigger these reaction combinations.
Each Esper also has a unique Esper Cycle Passive that enhances these reactions even while the character is off-field. This means every team member contributes to the reaction chain passively, making element selection and team composition critical strategic decisions.
As of April 2026, sixteen playable characters have been confirmed for the game's launch on April 29, 2026. These are divided into S-Rank and A-Rank tiers.
