Overview
Espers are humans in Neverness to Everness who possess supernatural abilities. These powers developed as a result of the deep historical integration of Anomalies into the world. Over time, prolonged exposure to anomalous phenomena caused certain individuals to adapt, gaining abilities that set them apart from ordinary humans. Some Espers awaken their powers at birth, while others develop them later in life through exposure to specific anomalous events or conditions.
Management and Control
Espers are managed and regulated by the Bureau of Anomaly Control (BAC), the government organization responsible for all supernatural affairs in Hethereau. The Bureau monitors Espers, recruits those with combat potential into its Esper Tactical Divisions (ETD), and maintains records on known Esper abilities. Some Espers work directly for the Bureau as agents, while others operate independently or through organizations like the Eibon Antique Shop.

Elemental Attributes
Each Esper possesses one of six elemental attributes that define the nature of their supernatural abilities. These six elements form the Esper Cycle, a system where adjacent elements on the cycle can combine to trigger powerful reactions during combat. The six elements are:

Espers in Gameplay
All playable characters in Neverness to Everness are Espers. Each character's elemental attribute determines which elemental reactions they can participate in when paired with other characters. The game's combat system revolves around the Esper Cycle, where applying different elemental attributes to enemies in the correct sequence triggers Duo Reactions and Trio Reactions that can dramatically amplify damage.
Players build teams of up to four Espers and swap between them during combat. Team composition decisions are heavily influenced by which elemental attributes are adjacent on the Esper Cycle, as adjacency determines which reactions are available. This makes understanding each character's element essential for optimizing combat performance.
