Overview
Haniel is an A-Class Psyche Esper in Neverness to Everness who leads a double life: social media influencer by day, delivery courier by night. She works for Sterry Expressthe delivery company that also is the affiliation for several other characters in the game. Haniel is designated as the pre-registration milestone reward at 30 million registrations, meaning every player receives her for free if the game reaches that threshold before launch.

In-Game Character Tagline
The in-game character menu introduces Haniel with a stated personal aspiration rather than a job title: "My dream is to become a beautiful high school girl who saves the world!" The line is delivered in-character and frames her as a fan of the magical-girl genre she lightly cosplays in her social media presence, even though she is functionally a delivery courier with Esper abilities.
Appearance
Haniel has short pink hair and wears a pair of headphones around her neck. Her default outfit has an oversized t-shirt, giving her a casual, streetwear-inspired look that fits her social media creator persona. Her design reflects her youth-culture personality and online presence rather than a traditional combat-oriented aesthetic.
Personality
Haniel is described as a social media whiz who runs multiple accounts and is a prolific creator in circles. She is deeply embedded in online culture, operating as an influencer who produces content across several platforms. Her public-facing personality is energetic, trend-aware, and community-driven, traits that carry over into her interactions with other characters.
Her courier work at Sterry Express is her way of earning cash outside of content creation. The contrast between her polished online persona and her hands-on delivery work adds depth to her character. She takes the courier job seriously despite it being her side gig, and the physical demands of making deliveries across Hethereau keep her grounded in the real world even as her online following grows.
Sterry Express Affiliation
Haniel is one of several characters affiliated with Sterry Expressthe delivery company that operates throughout Hethereau. Other Sterry Express members include Hathor (S-Class, Lakshana). The company is a front for characters who possess Esper abilities, providing them with cover jobs in the city while they deal with anomaly-related incidents.
As a delivery courier, Haniel navigates Hethereau's streets and districts on a daily basis, giving her an intimate knowledge of the city's layout, shortcuts, and hotspots. This street-level familiarity makes her a useful source of local information within the story.
Combat and Playstyle
Haniel is a support-oriented character whose primary value lies in buffing her teammates. As a Psyche element Esper, she fits into the Esper Cycle reaction system through two key elemental pairings:
Reaction | Partner Element | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Nova | Marks the target for a delayed damage burst. Contributes to the Discord trio reaction for break bar depletion. | |
Stain | Increases the target's elemental susceptibility by 50% for 12 seconds. Amplifies follow-up damage during the stagger window. |
Haniel's kit revolves around providing team-wide buffs that enhance the performance of her allies. She channels her social media charisma into abilities that boost the squad's offensive and defensive capabilities. However, her buffs have a notable weakness: they can be interrupted during the casting animation. If an enemy attack hits Haniel while she is in the middle of activating a buff, the ability is cancelled and goes on cooldown without applying its effects. This means positioning and timing are critical when playing Haniel, as she needs safe windows to get her buffs out without being disrupted.
Despite this vulnerability, Haniel is a strong support option for teams that need Psyche element coverage. Her buffs improve the team's overall damage output and survivability, and her Psyche element unlocks the Nova reaction (with Chaos characters like Daffodil or Lacrimosa) and the Stain reaction (with Lakshana characters like Hathor or Skia). Pairing Haniel with her fellow Sterry Express member Hathor triggers Stain, boosting elemental damage against affected enemies.
Team Building and Synergies
Haniel's value in team building comes from two factors: her Psyche element reactions and her support-focused buff kit. Psyche occupies a strategic position in the Esper Cyclesitting between Chaos and Lakshana. This means Haniel can contribute to both offensive (Nova's delayed burst) and supportive (Stain's vulnerability debuff) reactions depending on which teammates are paired with her.
As a support character, Haniel fits best in teams where the main DPS can capitalize on her buffs. Pairing her with on-field damage dealers like Nanally or Baicang lets those characters deal significantly more damage while Haniel handles the buffing duties from the back line. Her Psyche element also fills a niche that many teams lack, since dedicated Psyche supports are uncommon in the roster.
Players should be mindful of Haniel's casting vulnerability when building teams around her. Characters with crowd control or shielding abilities (like Adler) can protect Haniel while she activates her buffs, preventing interruptions that would waste cooldowns. Alternatively, timing buff casts during enemy recovery animations or after a successful stagger gives Haniel a safe window.
For players who receive Haniel as a pre-registration reward, she provides an immediate A-Class option for Psyche element coverage at the start of the game. Early-game teams that lack Psyche representation can slot Haniel in to unlock reaction chains that would otherwise require pulling from the Scarborough Fair gacha.
Pre-Registration Reward
Haniel is the milestone reward at 30 million pre-registrations. If the game reaches this number before launch, every player who has pre-registered receives Haniel for free upon starting the game. This makes her one of the most accessible A-Class characters in the roster, as she requires no gacha pulls or in-game currency to obtain.
The pre-registration milestone system offers several rewards at different thresholds, with Haniel sitting at the highest tier. Lower milestones include resourcescurrenciesand the exclusive Officer Whisker glider skin at 5 million followers.
Trivia
Haniel's English voice actress, Alexis Tipton, is known for numerous anime and video game roles.
Her dual role as influencer and courier mirrors the game's broader theme of characters living double lives as ordinary citizens and Espers.
Haniel is one of two confirmed A-Class characters affiliated with Sterry Express, alongside the delivery aspects of the company's operations.
Enhancement Attack Drain Mechanic
Haniel's signature support effect is an attack-drain Enhancement that pulls a portion of the enemy target's offensive stat onto the team as a buff. The mechanic has three tunable values, all of which were updated for the 1.0 launch patch and are documented below in the form they now ship with.
8 percent per pulse. Each Enhancement pulse drains 8 percent of Haniel's base Attack from the target enemy, then redistributes that 8 percent across all team members as a flat Attack buff. The redistribution applies to every active character in the squad, not just the on-field carrier.
16 percent drain cap. Repeated Enhancement pulses on the same target stack up to a maximum of 16 percent of Haniel's base Attack drained. Once that ceiling is reached, additional pulses do not drain further until the existing drain expires.
20 percent of target initial Attack cap. The drain cannot exceed 20 percent of the target's initial Attack stat. This caps the total amount that any one enemy can ever lose to Haniel, keeping the mechanic balanced against high-Attack bosses where 16 percent of Haniel's base would otherwise stack absurdly high in absolute terms.
The combined effect is a sustained team-wide Attack buff that scales with Haniel's own Attack stat, plus a debuff on the target that reduces incoming damage for the squad. Because the buff applies to every team member, Haniel slots cleanly into roster spots that would otherwise need a dedicated Attack buffer, and her free distribution through pre-registration milestones means most accounts have access to her without committing pulls.
Crit Damage Awakenings
Haniel's Awakening track adds a Crit Damage layer on top of the Enhancement attack drain. Several nodes either grant Haniel her own Crit Damage scaling on top of the team-wide Attack buff or add Crit Damage to the redistribution itself, which is what pushes her from a budget Attack buffer into a top-tier launch support after the 1.0 patch tuning.

Grants 2 stacks of Plot Armor per Ensemble trigger while Haniel is in Paranormal Ace state. Can accumulate up to 4 stacks of Plot Armor.
Skill Flavor Text
The in-game menu surrounds Haniel's kit with flavor lines that lean into the magical-girl framing her tagline establishes. The Critical Riposte block is captioned with: "The difference between magic tricks and real magic? As long as you believe, it exists... Like conjuring orbs with your bare hands?" The line connects her stage-magician aesthetic to the magical projectiles her Genesse Technique basic chain actually fires.
The Silent Moonlit Forest Guardian skill is paired with the contract she speaks when she throws Hootie out: "O owl of the quiet, moonlit forest depths, I, Haniel, hereby forge a contract with you! ...Come on, Hootie, work with me here." Her A Melody Named Haniel ultimate is footnoted with the in-fiction novel framing: "You won't find Genesse Girls' Academy on any map of Hethereau, and naturally you won't find the Paranormal Department either. This story begins with Haniel's first serialized novel..." The line reframes the Paranormal Ace effect and Ensemble - Symphony language as an excerpt from a story Haniel publishes, rather than a literal academy affiliation.
