Overview
The Connections system (人脉) is the relationship and companion layer of Lord of Mysteries, and it is also the game's main randomised acquisition system. Connections are historical projections of figures from the world's past, pulled into the present so the player can recruit them, raise their affinity, and borrow their abilities in a fight. The studio's own framing for the campaign is that the player is the best connected newcomer in Loen rather than a self made one, and the Connections system is where that premise becomes a mechanic.
The system sits alongside the two other companion and power tracks: mystic puppets, and the artifacts covered under Sealed Artifacts. It is a relationship layer for named characters, not a standing meter for the Seven Orthodox Churches or the state organisations, and the two should not be read as the same thing.
Historical Projections
The in fiction explanation is that the game reaches back through history and places past era characters into the present, where the player can obtain them and use each one's distinct skill to push further into the Beyonder world. Every Connection therefore arrives with its own combat or utility ability rather than a generic stat block. Audrey Hall, for example, carries an active single target skill called 心灵漫游 on a thirty second cooldown.
The premise is set up by the opening hours of the campaign. Mr. Fool grafts abilities onto the player through the mechanic covered under Mr. Fool's Grafting, Audrey Hall funds the player's first months, and Leonard Mitchell walks them into a Nighthawk post at Blackthorn Security Company without an interview. See Quests and Story for how those beats play out.
Acquiring Connections
Pulls consume Lamps of History (历史明灯). The default source is the shops attached to the game's various activity modes, and they can also be exchanged at a rate of 120 bound gold pounds each. Early progression hands them out steadily: the 往日瞬间 activity inside the Order World map awards them, deeper exploration tiers on some maps grant them on top of bound gold pounds, and clearing a recommended Hidden Space from the highlights panel awards them alongside golden spun thread. See Getting Started for where those activities sit in the opening days.
Single pulls and five pulls follow identical rules. Once total pulls reach forty, a twenty pull button appears in the interface.
Pity and Wish Rules
The rules below are the figures published as launch build guidance in August 2026. They are player facing documentation rather than an in client rate sheet, so treat them as accurate for the launch build rather than as a permanent contract.
Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
Guaranteed epic | A purple quality (epic) Connection within 5 pulls |
Guaranteed legendary | A gold quality (legendary) Connection within 40 pulls |
Pity reset | Pity progress resets to zero after a gold Connection is pulled |
Single versus multi | A single pull and a five pull follow the same rules |
Interface | A 20 pull button unlocks once the account reaches 40 total pulls |
Wish (许愿) | Raises a chosen target's rate up to 80 percent, missing at most once |
Wish supply | 2 wishes per week, reset on Monday, with no carryover |
Bonus wishes | 1 extra wish for every 110 pulls made |
The wish structure is shared with the mystic puppet pulls, which the same guidance describes as working the same way. The wider question of what the shop sells and what it costs is covered under Monetization.
Duplicates and Projection Fragments
Duplicate pulls are not wasted. Each duplicate returns upgrade points, and six duplicates (seven copies in total) take a Connection's skill to its maximum rank of five. Duplicates also return Projection Fragments (投影片段).
Quality | Fragments per duplicate | Fragments once past the cap |
|---|---|---|
Purple (epic) | 2 | 4 |
Gold (legendary) | 10 | 50 |
The published spend priority is to put Projection Fragments straight back into the Connections shop and buy more Lamps of History with them, looping the currency back into pulls.
Affinity
Every Connection has an affinity track that runs in parallel with its combat use. Affinity is raised through daily interactions and is the route to a Connection's cosmetic rewards.
Element | Detail |
|---|---|
Cap | Affinity level 7 |
Daily interactions | Stroll (漫步), Invite (邀约) and Dance (共舞) |
Free interaction | The first Invite of the day costs nothing |
Further interactions | Cost Letters of Reminiscence (漫忆请柬), whose weekly supply is sized for exactly one Connection over seven days |
Monthly card | Adds 5 letter interactions per day |
Second copy | Every gold quality Connection grants a second copy of itself at affinity level 6 |
Rewards | Furniture, emotes, frames and titles, plus Memory Caskets (记忆珍匣) that exchange for cosmetics at the Gallery of Bygone Things (往事陈列馆) |
Raising affinity far enough also unlocks the ability to transform into a Connection's appearance.
History Research Value and Bonds
Connections are a power system as well as a social one. Activating the bonds that link Connections together accumulates History Research Value (历史研究值), and reaching certain thresholds grants a substantial increase to overall combat power. Two bond groups are named in the launch guidance: 茶歇午后 (the afternoon tea break group) and 守护者们 (the guardians group).
Because a free Audrey Hall is granted for completing the seven days of newcomer tasks, the afternoon tea break bond is reachable by day seven at the latest without spending anything.
Named Connections and Draw Guidance
The launch guidance names four Connections as the practical early targets, with recommendations split by what the player intends to do rather than by which Pathway they picked.
Connection | Who they are | Published guidance |
|---|---|---|
奥黛丽 Audrey Hall | The Tarot Club's Justice, a Sequence 3 Beyonder of the Spectator line and the first character the player meets in Tingen | Granted free after seven days of newcomer tasks. The general healing recommendation, and the safe first bond piece |
邓恩 Dunn Smith | The former captain of the Tingen Nighthawks | The recommendation for players who prioritise player versus player damage |
佛尔思 | The Tarot Club's Magician, a high Sequence Beyonder of the 门 (Door) line whose work produced the travel obelisks scattered across Loen | The first wish priority for damage focused play. No official romanisation of the name has been published |
戴莉 | A Sequence 6 necromancer mentor and a former Night Watcher, tied to the Dunn Smith side story | Part of the guardians bond. A direct exchange for a copy is explicitly not recommended for ordinary players |
Player versus player focused players are told to alternate draws between 佛尔思 and 邓恩 with an occasional 戴莉 draw to complete the guardians bond. Spectator players, who fill the healer slot, are told to alternate 佛尔思 and Audrey Hall while prioritising 佛尔思, because the free day seven Audrey Hall would otherwise overflow, and then push the afternoon tea break bond to a higher rank once it forms.
One point of that guidance is easy to misread. It groups every damage dealing class, the Warrior included, under a single first week recommendation, and gives the Spectator its own separate line. That grouping is about which companion skill supports a damage rotation, not a statement about party role. The Warrior remains the party's frontline protection role, as set out under Pathway Roles.
The Corridor of History
The Corridor of History (「历史回廊」) is a named sealed artifact tied directly to the Connections system. When a fight turns against the player, it lets them borrow power from the past versions of their Connections, granting skills that sit beyond their own Pathway and Sequence limits. That makes it one of the few documented ways to act outside the ladder described under Sequences and Pathways.
Three borrowed abilities are named in official material, and each is written in the character's own idiom rather than as a generic skill.
Connection | Borrowed ability |
|---|---|
老尼尔 (Old Neil) | Attacks a target by spending debt |
苏茜 (Susie) | Restores health by eating a Backlund pet biscuit |
弗兰克·李 (Frank Lee) | Summons a magic mushroom and detonates it for damage |
A Naming Caution
Two different things sit one character apart, and they are routinely confused. The Corridor of History (历史回廊) is the sealed artifact described above. The Echo of History (历史回响) is a separate item entirely: it is the upgrade currency that raises a sealed artifact's quality tier from character level 46, bought on the exchange with unbound sol. Neither name is a misprint of the other, and neither should be substituted for the other. The upgrade currency is covered under Sealed Artifacts.
Connections in Other Systems
Club Brawl (俱乐部乱斗), the daily club match that opens at noon from the second day onward, requires the player to field a projection before the match begins. See Divination Clubs for the club structure it sits inside.
Lamps of History are one of the two currencies that exploration and Hidden Space rewards funnel toward, which ties the Connections economy to open world play rather than to the shop alone.
Because History Research Value feeds combat power, Connections progress carries into instanced group content and into the ladders covered under Dungeons and Raids and Faction Warfare and PvP.
What Has Not Been Published
Per Connection pull rates outside the pity guarantees, the full roster of obtainable Connections, and the rate at which new Connections are added have not been published. The figures on this page are those the studio's own launch build guidance sets out, and nothing further should be inferred from them.
